Going to be at Universal (Yeah!) in November. Have not been there in like 10 years. I do not like extreme rides but LOVE splash mountain at MK. Is Dudley similiar? Is it fun? I never hear anything about it. Also, I remember I also loved the ET ride which I know is VERY tame, but my mom who is 82 and needs a wheelchair to get around (she can walk a little just not so good) is coming with us. I think I remember the bikes doing slants as they were flying.
I am wondering if she would be steady on it. I will probably go on first to refresh my memory but i hope she can do it. I think she would get a real kick out of it. If anyone has any answers I would greatly appreciate it!:woohoo:

Dudely vs Splash Mountain:

-Dudley has a taller, steeper drop.
-You actually get wet (soaked!) on Dudley.
-It's incredibly fun and cheesy and silly.

We must have done Dudley do Right 15 times on our lat trip in July
The front row of that ride is awesome!:lovestruc
and you do get soaked

I was at Universal for the second time this past June. On the Ripsaw Falls, you especially will get wet if you have the full number of people (five) in your "log." This is because your log dips the most into the water after the various drops. Finally, you will get most wet if you sit in the front.

Please be sure to cover any items which you do not want to get drenched (cell phone, admission tickets, etc.).

Thanks to all! I do not mind getting wet, just wondering how steep IS this ride? Does it feel like you are going straight down!?

yes. the drop is pretty steep and it always goes for my stomach:thumbsup2 but i still ride it! you do get very wet, but hey you dry! ET ride is fine for someone in a wheelchair, my ds8 has done it in his wheelchair (special car) and also we transferred him into a normal car which has bikes on it. he sat on the bikes ok.

I love ripsaw falls. What a great laugh.
I sat at the back and stupidly shouted "I'm not that wet" after the drop, then we went round the corner after the drop and ..............I don't want to spoil it for those of you who haven't been on it.

If you have been on it, you'll know exactly what I mean :D

eyeore, not to sound like a nitwit, but did your ds8 stay in the wheelchair for the ride? Like I said, it has been at least 10 years since I have been on it so I am not sure how that works. But from what you have told me, either way I think she can do it. There are so few rides she can go on and I would love to see her be able to go on ET. Thank you and everyone who has gotten back to me!

The front is awesome if you fit in it. I'm 5'10" and had to get in the front on Sat. The front is best for those under 5'5, imo.

so what you all are saying is .......if i wet my pants due to the scare factor of the ride, no one will notice when i get off the ride.......?

good. i may try it this year then.

that ride and pluto i have not been on.
too much water

Popeye & Bluto's, you mean.

i did that to see if anyone reads my crap......:rolleyes1

looks like we have a winner.........:hippie:

i know, it is popeye and bluto.
and still a lot of water for me.....

it ruins the hair.
a homie does have her priorities you know...

There is a wheelchair car.
Here's a link to the Universal Rider's Guide, which includes information about accessibility.

Also, if you use the link in my signature to get to the disABILITIES FAQs thread, you will find more information about Universal in post #9 of that thread, including a link to a trip report by Bill Sears, who uses a wheelchair. His report includes pictures of some of the accessible ride cars.

Your right, I am 5'4"
I found this funny, the whole time you are on the ride, there are signs and announcements saying to remain seated at all times
Hell, with those new lap bars, which I found to be pretty tight,
I couldn't stand up if I wanted to :rotfl:

I'm 6"4" and could never fit in the front or even think about standing up.:lmao: Its hard enough getting in and out of the log.:rotfl2:

I, for one, love those new lap bars and am thrilled that they are tight! That ride scared the beejeepers out of me before they were installed! Okay, it still scares the beejeepers out of me, but Ds insists on several runs each trip...

ibklyn.... suem in mn beat me to it. yes there was a wheelchair car where they can stay in their chairs. we had no probs, hope she enjoys it!:)

Ripsaw Falls is a lot of fun, and I have seen logs that are wheelchair acessible.

In comparison to Splash Mountain's drop...Ripsaw it is a bit steeper (but not by much). SM has a 45 degree angle drop and Ripsaw is unique for it starts at a 45 degree angle on top to a 50 degree angle, so it gives you the sensation of plummeting straight down. However, if you brace your feet and push against your seat, you won't get the sensation of plummeting straight down.

Personally, I think your mom will enjoy the ride if she loved Splash Mountain.
