Duct tape

Yea I saw it too, but I have no idea what to use it for.

The power strip is very necessary though. Thy only really have ONE outlet you can plug things into. I also recommend picking up a few of "Dr. Ferd's Wart Removers" for those that have devices that cause "wall warts" such as adapters, chargers, etc.

The link to them is here: http://www.zzounds.com/item--DRFFERD

Basically, you plug your charger into Dr. Ferd, and then plug Dr. Ferd into the wall. Voila - no more nasty wall wart and wasted plugs.

I haven't actually been on a cruise but only planning one for last year but I have heard of people using it for many different purposes such as holding curtains back, broken suit cases...I know there were others but I can't think of them right now.

I have also heard some say they have used it for preventing drawers and closet doors from slamming open and closed during high/rough seas. I would be concerned it may take off the finish on the wood? But I guess it doesn't.

susie princess:

Got unruly children, tape them to the wall. Got teenagers under the influence of hormones, you can use the duct tape on them.

Under no circumstances are you to use duck tape on the Duck - Donald Duck!!

Just fyi, I took some on our last trip and the only thing I used it for was to tape a carton back up so it would stay closed. Other then that, didn't use it for nuthin'.

I've never taken it, but I read an article recently with tips from various travel writers on what they bring on their trips, and one of them takes a pencil with some duct tape wrapped around it. That seems more sensible than taking an entire large roll of the stuff.

You can easily pick up a travel pack of Duct Tape that is flat. It costs about $1 at Walmart.

I had no idea why I was taking it but I took it....and I'm GLAD I heed the advice of my fellow dis'ers....

In my DD6's excitement of seeing Cinderella outside the Walt Disney Theatre, she jumped up and down, hit the digital camera off of DH's shoulder and SPLAT on the MARBLE floors! The digital camera was in several pieces. My DH's "AHHHH" was heard from the Forward to the Aft. The battery case came right off. This was only the 3rd day of our 7 day cruise. The duct tape held the camera together nicely. Whew...what a SAVE!

I've seen duct tape on a few lists of must bring. What are you using it for?

Taped the wall safe door shut in high seas. Fixed broken clothes hanger clamp in suitcase. Used clear counterpart to secure wandering strap.

Problem is, duct tape can leave a very stick residue that you can't get up, and you've left it to the staff to clean off. It is a bear. I've even seen people put it on their doors to hold up signs! Please don't use duct tape except on your own belongings! I advise you invest in a roll of "gaffers tape" which works just like duct tape, except it leaves ZERO residue. It was made for that. It is more expensive, but you'll feel better about using it on curtains, drawers, safes, doors, etc.

I pack the travel size of duct tape as someone else mentioned....let me tell you it came in very handy when we got our suitcases and one of them had split open!! Don't know if it happened at the airport or DCL but we needed the tap to wrap around the bag on the return trip.....luckily nothing was missing!!!

It works great to hem a dress or pants in a pinch. I've repaired the soles of houseshoes with it also. It's kind of one of those, you'll never need it till you NEED it things.

Let me second the power strip also. Made our life much easier.

Works great as a strapless wonder bra...so I've heard

On our cruse one of the fellow disers suitcase broke...and luckly enough someone had some duck tape. :D

Things that you will never hear a redneck say:

#1 You can't fix that with Duct Tape.

If it moves and doesn’t supposed to, use Duct Tape.
If doesn’t move and supposed to, use WD-40.

The wonderbra thing is true. My ex was a runway model in Colorado (not famous or anything at all) and I would help her get changed between runs and one of the things they would use for a bra was duct tape. So there wouldnt be bra lines in the back of the outfit.

I'm a guy and all I can say to this is --- Ooooouuuch!!! Dang, thats gotta hurt comming off.

LOL. They use a piece of cloth for most of the tape area so it doesn't stick everywhere.

Duct tape is like the Force.

It has a Light Side.
It has a Dark Side.
And it holds the Universe together.
