Dublin

We've used Dublin a few times and I wouldn't do less than three hours. Sometimes the line for security/immigration can be extremely long. It also depends whether you've booked a through flight as collection of luggage can affect your transit time. We usually have Dublin as the starting point therefore book a budget airline to get to the airport which means we need to collect our luggage on arrival.

I assume it would be a through flight as classed as one stop (which is Dublin) on way to New York

We use Dublin to USA ( Orlando ) at least 2 times a year ..... we live in Ireland.

Now please give more details of where your start point is . And are you using one of the main airlines or RyanAir ?

Are you a UK or European resident ?

If you are using Aer Lingus or KLM or others from UK ... then your luggage is Booked direct to USA ... No need to collect in Dublin .

RyanAir ...... maybe different.

If you arrive in Dublin as a Transit passenger then you go Straight to Transfer line and onto Duty Free area & Departure

walkway to USA Immigration & Customs.

Depending on your arrival time in Dublin & the 10 min walk time to Duty free area ( via Passport control ) you

should have plenty of time to make your way to Immigration .

You fill out Customs form .... it is checked ..... then you stand in line for Immigration .

Length of line Will depend on which time your flight is at.

At Immigration Person ... fingerprints & eye photo are taken .... THEN your Luggage is Displayed on screen

for verification .... hopefully you are then allowed to proceed to boarding gate.

Hope this helps ..... if not then come back onto this thread.

If you are booked on a through flight then 2 hours is generally plenty of time.

You fill out Customs form .... it is checked ..... then you stand in line for Immigration

On the customs form it asks for "Countries visited on this trip prior to U.S. arrival". If I have come over to Dublin from the UK the night before our flight to Orlando, should I put Ireland, or U.K, or both here?

Used Dublin a few times in recent years, I accept same as going thru a US airport. 2 hours going out 1 hour coming home.

Hello Becky,

So .. you have checked in at a UK airport & flying to Dublin , the night before ,

Therefore you will have to collect your luggage on arrival in Dublin & take them to your hotel.....

Next morning you will have to go to Terminal 2 And check in again , like me , at the Check In desks .

Then your luggage is checked to your first stop in USA & further on .

After collecting your Boarding cards ( with luggage Identity tag ) you will go up stairs & through security

And then into duty free & downstairs to USA Pre Clearence ( Immigration & Customs .... your luggage will be displayed )

Customs form .... you have checked in in Dublin so put down Dublin .

Just looking at bristol to Dublin to New York
Both aer lingus
Just a bit of extra info here. I fly the Dublin Bristol Aer Lingus route often as I have family in Wiltshire. That route is actually run by Stobart Air, for Aer Lingus. The planes on that route are the small propeller planes, approx 40 people. The cabin bag size is smaller than the Ryanair / usual Aer Lingus size as the overhead bins are smaller and there is less space under the seats.

Good thinking on that.

But Luggage for Luggage hold will be still 23 kgs if going to USA And will be checked in at Bristol

Identified in Dublin & collected in New York
