Hey folks...

Still debating on whether or not to buy into DVC and unfortunately I've been deliberating a long time. :) One of these days I keep telling myself and my DW.

I am considering buying two different contracts at two different home resorts with the same UY. I'm assuming this would give me two different options for an 11 month reservation window. For the purpose of my question, let's assume I have 160 points with each contract.

My question is: At the 11 month window, do I have 320 points that I can book at either of the home resorts or do I have 160 points that I can book at either of the home resorts? In other words, can I use all 320 points at one home resort at the 11 month window? Just not sure how Disney handles all that when ultiple contracts are held by the same owner with the same UY.

I apologize if this has been answered previously as I couldn't find the answer elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Still contemplating,
Mav

At 11 months in your example, you'll have 160 points available at each resort. At 11 months, points only work at the home resort for those points.

At 7 months, you'd have 320 points that could book any other DVC resort. This is where the advantage of a single UY comes into play, because two or more contracts titled identically can be assigned the same membership number and at 7 months be treated as a single pool of points without having to transfer from one membership to another.

Thank you very much Brian! Your information and help is much appreciated.

Have a great day,
Mav

The 11th month booking only works with the points that you own there. VWL points at VWL, BLT points at BLT etc.

That's why we own at 5 resorts. Pretty smart of Disney isn't it. :thumbsup2

But this is where banking and borrowing work! In all actuality you would have the ability to use 3 years worth of points for each resort which is what we do! Last year we stayed in 2 bedroom at BLT using 2009 & 2010 points booking at 11 month window. Tomorrow we are checking into the THV (SSR) for 10 nights using 2 years worth of SSR points. In Dec we are staying at BLT GV this time using 2011, 2012 and some 2013 points  I would like to add 2 more home resorts BWV & small AKV but DH thinks I am nuts so I will buy my time:rolleyes1

you can never, ever use one DVC resort's pts (like BLT) to book another resort (like OKW) at 11 months out.

but if you manage your contracts separately, you can book BLT at 11 months out with banked BLT pts, current BLT pts and borrowed BLT pts (or even transferred BLT pts from another BLT owner).

so you can book BLT at 11 months out every 2 or 3 years on BLT pts and OKW at 11 months out every 2 or 3 years on OKW pts.

some people get confused when banking and borrowing come up and think that banking OKW pts turns them into BLT pts or something, but that is a misunderstanding.

Very helpful info on the banking and borrowing. Makes a lot of sense for sure. Thanks everyone!

We have two contracts and two UYs. We didn't really realize that we should have bought the same UY. It has only been a problem when we booked a cruise with the points. It required the use of a manager to add them together.

Not 5 like you, only 3 homes for us. All the same UY and all under one account. We love having so many choices.
