DTW airport parking

We are driving ourselves to Detroit airport for the first time. How is the parking situation? Can anyone offer tips and advice? How much is it to park per day?

I really recommend going with Airlines Parking on Merriman Rd through Park n' Fly Network (http://www.pnfnetwork.com/). On airport parking is now a minimum $9/day. Because I pre-booked through Park n' Fly, I'm paying $48 for 7 days plus $8/day for my two additional days. I saved $17 by parking off site. The shuttles are convenient and comfortable, and they offer "door-to-door" service. They're just north of the airport on Merriman Road, so it's about a five minute shuttle ride. But I'd rather ride in a shuttle for five minutes than spend at least that trying to find my way out of the Big Blue Deck on foot!
