We never made it to Downtown Disney on our last trip to DL. Is is worth the time to go down there? It just seems like there is so much to do in both parks -- what cool stores are a must-sees (besides World of Disney)? Also, I have heard that the La Brea Bakery had fabulous sandwiches -- but haven't heard much about it on the boards. What restaurants take reservations in advance in DTD? We have 3 little ones that will be with us also princess:
thanks for any suggestions!

As a non-parent, but someday wants to have kids, I don't look at DTD as something I'd do with the kids while at DL. I'd guess some stores they'd love, like Lego and Build a Bear, not to mention the WOD (but then there are enough Disney shops in the parks), but otherwise it's shopping, food and nitelife. The best restaurant I'd guess for travelling with kids is the Rainforest Cafe, which is a chain I fell for before finding it at Disney. I believe RFC does take reservations.

It's a different situation in FL though, with Cirque de Soliel and DQ. in Anaheim, it's more just a glorified mall.

There are several fun stores for kids, but it is shopping. So I wouldn't go out of my way to shop personally.

However, I think that the food is better in DTD than it is in DL. So maybe a monorail over for lunch at Rainforest Cafe (it is pretty close to monorail). It will give you an idea of what is around and you can hit one or two places (Legos is close to RFC).

How old are your kids?

Last year when we went my kids couldn't get enough of DTD. My DH took my 3 older boys (then 4, 7, and 8) to ESPN Zone while I took DD (then 9) to Club Libby Lu. She got her hair and nails done, then we met up with Dh and the boys and played in ESPN Zone for awhile. We also went to BAB, the kids shopped and two of them got their first bears. Of course we also shopped at World of Disney, too. We were surprised that it was so small, I thought there would be more there, but the kids enjoyed what was there. We're going to skip it on our next trip and I'm sure ESPN Zone will be missed.

We weren't too hungry so we just ate Wetzels Pretzels for lunch, but it was good. The only restaraunts I can think of right now that take PS are Rainforest Cafe and I think ESPN Zone does on certain nights. I know there are more, but I don't know what they are.

My boys are 8 & 6 and love Rainforest cafe... If you decide to eat there, call first and make a reservation... I have seen the wait time as long as an hour during peak times for dinner...

Thanks for the tips about the Rainforest Cafe. My girls will be 8, 5, and 2 by the time we will be going to DL. Is DTD really busy on Saturdays? I thought about maybe heading over there to check it out if DL gets really busy on the Saturday we are there. But, I've heard it can get packed, too.

It can get really busy on Saturday but it is still fun. If you want to take your girl to Libby Liu, call and make an appointment. They have FREE 3 hour parking for DTD which is awesome if you are just wanting to visit. Rainforest Cafe is fun and so is ESPN for the games.

Have fun and enjoy it for what it is. It is not a theme park - to be sure.

So how can you find out when DTD closes? Or do the different places close at different times?
