I just read somewhere that DTD has a movie theater?? Can anyone tell me about this? I would like to know if it's worth it, say if you're feet are tired, but you still want to do something or if it's a really cool theater? How much is it? Is there somewhere I can go to see what movies are playing? TIA! :thumbsup2

Downtown Disney West Side has an AMC 24 Movie Theater that has 24 separate theaters of which 18 have stadium seating. It's across from Planet Hollywood if memory serves me. Not sure of the price as we've never been but I'd say the same price as your own local movie theater. I'd look at AMC's website for more info?

If you reeeaaaally want to go to the movies on your vacation, you can just go to either moviefone.com or movietickets.com to look up the AMC in DTD.

Thanks for the info! I don't know that we'd actually go. I mean, will I really want to sit and watch a movie for 2 hours when I'm at DW? But, I thought if the theatre were extra special and we were tired, then maybe...

Thanks!

Last year the front desk at our resort (Pop Century) was able to print off a list of movie times for us before we headed over there.

You can also call 407-298-4488 while you are in Orlando... that is the AMC audio line. You can get movie listings and purchase tickets in advance over the phone.

If you go to the AMC web page it is Pleasure Island 24 that you are looking for.

It is really nothing special persay, just a big AMC. The stadium seating is impressive if you have never seen it, but it is not like it is a Disney-fied theater. It is good for a back up plan on a rainy day or late at night afteer the parks are closed.

click here and you can see the showtimes and what films are showing at the theatre.

its a AMC theatre, and the theathre at Downtown Disney is called 'Pleasure Island 24' on the website

i plan on going this year to it

the prices are Adult $9, Child $6 and Senior $7

You know what would be so cool? If in some of the theaters they played Disney movies or Disney classics - like Cinderella, Bambi, etc. I bet they would really bring 'em in then!

My parents live in the villages-about an hour away. They go down to the AMC at DTD because they can see independent films that don't get to the movie houses near them. The only time there are Disney films there is when Disney has a big release out like Cars or Pirates. Dad does say that the Disney films tend to stay there longer than they do at other Florida theatres because of the location.

We've been to the AMC 24 several times over some of our trips. There have been 2 cases that a movie that we really wanted to see released while we were on vacation. One was the next-to-last released Harry Potter and the other was Narnia. If you are going to see a just released movie I would recommend screen 1 or 2. These are 3 level stadium seating - floor, upper froor, and balcony. A most pleasant experience as the screen is as large as most of us remember from our childhood instead of the modern "postage-stamp" size, and the sound system was the best that I have heard in a theater in some time.
