I was there at rope drop with over 1000 others. I left 5 minutes later and am
now enjoying coffee at Panera. Wristbands were being given to the first 1000 for the free Vinylmation gift. I can't imagine how long it will take to even get people banded much less checked out. I went because rain was predicted until noon but I would rather fight rain than the W of D mob. Best wishes to the brave souls still there.

Last year we arrived the day of this event and went to DTD in the evening. It appeared that a hurricane had hit the stores and there was still a wait line just to enter the Christmas store at 8-9 pm. We decided to shop later. Then, a few days later they marked all holiday merchandise and some other items down 40% so I didn't feel we missed out on much except the crowds. :santa:

:scared1: I don't think I could handle that either. Enjoy the parks while the masses are shopping! :goodvibes

Oh! Maybe I will rethink my plans to join the crowd next Saturday for the next Passholder shopping event. Thanks for the warning. Here I was delighted that I finally would be there for something like that!!!!

LOL!. As you were enjoying Panera, we were still in line and missed the Vinylmation gift by about 35 people. We got in about 7:15am. We joined the line back across from Raglan Road at 6:25am.

There was still a line waiting to get in when we headed back to OKW about 8:30.

The sale next weekend begins at 8:00am. We won't be in line for that one! :teeth:

Thanks for the report! :)

(Will you be at the Merry Mixer this week?)

Hi to all!! I had planned on attending the Wof D evet but Sat was our day to depart so I wasn't sure what to do. When I checked out at Columbia Harbor House on Wed my receipt had a coupon for 20% at the Emporium (MK), Mouse Gear (EP), Mickey's of Hollywood (DHS), Island Mercantile (AK) or WofD (DTD). There were very few limitations and it could not be combined but 20% is awesome - valid 9a-noon only. So I visited Mouse Gear and when checking out was told by the CM that the gift shops in the park are now honoring the 10% AP discounts and that this is the first 20% promo she has seen. The coupon is valid until dec 15 and we also received one at check-out of Sunshine Seasons. So for those who don't want to stand in the lines of madness try a counter service and see what happens!!!

Anyway it answered my question about standing in line!!:)

BTW - although not marked in the stores - I did get my 2009 ornaments for 50% off!!!

Bobbi - you have to read Doc's recount of the event if you haven't yet!

Thank you for the link and Thank you, Jean for bothering to mention this as well!!!! Since I am interested in earrings for my 2 DGD's and there's no additional discount, we're going to pass.

Saturday is the day we had planned to visit Blue Springs to hopefully see the manatees there. It would be great if "our" adopted manatees, Georgia or Brutus make their appearance in the state park that day, but at any rate, there should be some manatees there considering the temps that Florida has seen recently. That really seems to be the better plan....after the trip we're going to the MK to meet some Florida DF's! vacation!!!

OUCH! We ate at Columbia House on Thursday and didn't even look at the receipt. DW just dug it out and sure enough, the 20% discount is there. We could have saved another $30 and still slept in instead of going to the WoD event yesterday.

The receipt discount states it is not good on prior purchases, so I don't think we can benefit on the necklace purchased with just the regular AP discount.

We need to pay closer attention to those counter serve receipts! Thanks for pointing that out.

I want to thank you both for mentioning looking at the CS receipts. We're going to MK next Saturday and Columbia house will definitely be a meal stop!

I went to the event in June, our day to check out.
DD and I had a great time....they handed out maps of where items were located, so we split up, got all of our things, checked out and at breakfast at Earl's 20 minutes later.
They wrist banded people before opening while waiting in line. We got DCL towels...very nice.
If we are ever there for the sale again, I will be in line ::yes:: I love shopping, sales, and Disney, so it was wonderful for me!!

Hi:flower3:I should know that it would take a shopping thread to get you over to the DVC boards for a comment!!!!

This was also our check out day and I got there at 6:35 and about turned back around when I saw the line. Thought there must be some really good items for this many people to show up. There wasn't :sad1: I bought a few things but there were very few sale items and most are discounted more on Disneystore.com. Plus you only got an extra 10% off with you annual pass, which is the same as I got all week.

Also no maps were given, you just looked in each room for balloons marking the items. Didn't enjoy it very much and next time I will stay in bed.

On the plus, I met some really nice people while in line!!

Now I feel better that we overslept here at VWL and missed it all! We had planned on a watch purchase and read that they weren't included so all is well for us.

We leave on Dec. 8 but we were at the MMM on Dec. 3. Longest lines I've seen at a Mixer. The pin line was also very long.

Regarding shopping discounts: Virtually everyone seems to be giving 10% AP discount and you can combine it with the Disney Visa discount (though I think there may be a $50 minimum for the Disney Visa discount). So that makes almost 20% (second 10% is taken off the total after the first 10% is computed) and you don't need to use it at any particular time.
