DTD parking closure

Soon, there will be a lot less parking available at DTD.

The parking lot in front of Planet Hollywood has already closed. All of the parking from PH down to DQ will be closing 7/22/13, for Disney Springs construction. This leaves just the parking near the MktPl and circling Cirque available.

Disney says they will open additional backstage lots across the street to guests during peak periods. One of the more distant lots will have a shuttle service.

Well, there's a decision made!! When I'm at SSR in Dec, my son and daughter-in-law are driving over from Tampa to spend some time with me. We are hanging at SSR for the day, eating there and then going to Cirque that night. We thought we might drive over but I think not!!! Will probably boat or walk over...even though the walk is a bit longer. At least it drops you at Cirque!!

When complete in 2016, PI will be gone, and there will be roughly double the retail space and 2 parking garages. Expansion will be both out into the existing parking lot and into Village Lake.

Yes. The one that goes from Congress Park to the Marketplace.

Ugh. I knew it was coming but still I was planning on driving there in September around 4pm.

Guess I'll be taking the boat from POFQ there and back as my first choice. Unless of course the weather is bad and the boat isn't running like my trip in May 2013.

I was just so sick of the DTD Disney buses I took taxi's on that trip.

Heck, maybe I'll just drive anyway and see what happens. The worst sounds like it would be having to park across the street and maybe take a shuttle bus.

Yes, they are closing the one that runs from the Congress Park area, over to Marketplace. But there will be another available to use behind the main bldgs. It will cross by/thru the OKW golf course area, and drop you close to Cirque. It's longer but it's usable. Or, there are always the boats and buses.

Thanks Joelkfla. Just what Disney needs, more shops. I like the garage idea, however. But, what a pain for visitors until that stuff opens.

Now that the parking lots are all closed (did they close as scheduled?), how is parking at DTD? What time are they opening the lots across the street? How is it crossing over to DTD? How are the shuttles with strollers?

They've postponed the closing; I was told there was a delay in permitting for the construction. The portable electronic message boards that will be directing guests to alternate parking had been removed, but they're now back in place, so I think the closure is imminent.

The only lot with a shuttle will be the Team Disney lot, and it will drop guests at Cirque du Soleil. It's planned to run from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. as needed. It will use regular Disney Transport buses, so I would guess strollers will need to be folded.

The other lots are across from the Marketplace. Perhaps shuttles were deemed unnecessary because the Marketplace is closer to the street than is the West Side.

So if we are going to any of the restaurants (Raglan Road) does that mean we have to park across the street? There's rarely enough parking at the Marketplace.
