We're not heavily into shopping. We just want a break from the park that offers a little entertainment/shopping/eating for the kids without that chaotic, shop till you drop feeling.

I heard that DTD has a play area, fountains, and the lego shop where they can play.

I heard that the Boardwalk has face painting, clowns, etc.

We are going mid-afternoon till 6:30 or so? What do you guys think is better for younger kids?

Either one. They are very different in all aspects. You can park close to McDonalds and do the Lego Store and stuff. It can get very crowded!

Boardwalk is not as crowed and a lot less to do. Maybe BW is best.

I didn't see face painting or clowns at the BW when we were there. Nothing much at all happening mid-afternoon. In the evening there are some street performers. However, busier times may be different, we were there mid-October.

We're going in early October.

If we hit DTD, is there a good place to eat that the kids might enjoy? How about the BW?

Our kids love DTD -- even if you aren't doing much shopping you should take time to check out the shops like World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy and the Lego store as well as the displays outside of the Lego store. There is a fountain to play in and a carousel (cost extra). While we were there in June there was a kids' dance party on the outdoor stage. The times that we have been to the Boardwalk it seems like all of the live entertainment was in the evening.

Thanks, guys! That is exactly what I needed to know. Any kid-fun restaurants in DTD?

Our kids really like the Earl of Sandwich (we have eaten there 4 times in the last 2 trips!!) It is very reasonably priced and they make an excellent grilled cheese.

When we were at the BW we ate at the ESPN Club--it was pretty good and kind of a nice break from the chaos of the theme park restaurants.

We go to BWV on the average of 2 or 3 times a year and my GC love it.

BUT the entertainment does not start until evening, maybe around 7:00. We have been at all times of the year and I don't remember ever seeing it in the afternoon.

If you eat at The Earl of Sandwhich, look for me. I'm there at least every other day. I love that place!!!

DTD is great. I love going there and so do my kids. We go there at least twice on every trip. Now, I will admit that on this most recent trip we went to Boardwalk for the first time. My DW loved it. There is a magician that performs out there during the night time that just cracked her up. She was laughing so hard that she started to cry. She had to walk away for a minute. That was one of her highlights of the trip.
