DTD McDonalds closing

A couple of questions?

Does Pollo Camparo have other protiens besides Chicken. Hubby is allergic to chicken.

Also, is the McD's down the road walkable from DD, or just drivable. Our daughter is a MCD's junkie, and if she's overtired, and a brat, plain and simple, it may be the only workable thing for my sanity. I'm a little more lax on vacation than at home and I don't know if this is a battle I'd be willing to fight.

Thanks.
Gretchen

Sorry, the only remaining McD's is miles from DTD, so you wouldn't be able to walk it. It's over by the All-Star resorts.

Hi, there is a McDonalds at Crossroads, and there is a sidewalk between DTD and Crossroads, however it is a healthy one mile, and the intersection at Crossroads is EXTREMELY busy. It is a six lane cross to cross from that corner to the McDonalds. It isn't something that I would recommend unless you were driving.

I know MCD isn't a Disney place, but to families with small kids it's a haven, your kids know it and its familiar to them, and cheap.

When DD was little we would stop there get lunch, then play in Lego land for a while, it would give her a chance to decompress for a while, also give me a minute to catch my breath and plan for the evening. I would buy boxes of McDonald's cookies and throw in the backpack for latter.

There is a McDonalds at Crossroads. For adults its a walk but with little kids and a stroller no thanks, You could catch one of the downtown disney resort buses go to the furthest resort and get off there the walk would not be that bad. but I'm not sure if you are allowed to do that?

Me personal I'm sad to see it go.

Since we only allow ourselves a trip to Mickey D's when we are in WDW, I am super sad that it's closing.

I can see how people think it's unoriginal or whatever, but there are other options there for you if you don't care for McD. For someone who prefers that type of food, there really isn't another quick service choice at DTD.

For a long time I have wondered why DTD doesn't have a Disney resort style food court(pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc). Perhaps someday......

I have not read many of the posts on this thread, but I'm kind of excited to see McDonalds go! McD's doesn't scream Disney to me, it feels out of place in the Marketplace. I want a memorable, wholly original experience when I'm on vacation. Eating at exotic places. Seeing new things that I don't get to see here in Michigan. Frankly, I pass by 6 yellow arches on my way to work everyday, I can definitely deal without seeing them while I'm on vacation!

I'm another happy camper to see MCD's going, and a new restaurant (even though it is a chain) coming to DTD :cool1:! We live in Canada and to me, Pollo Camperso sounds great :thumbsup2

I don't mind at all that McDonalds is closing, as I can eat there anytime. I would much rather eat at Earl of WPE.

I am really getting tired of the chain restaurants at DTD. We have Pollo Campero and Rain Forest Cafe in the Dallas area. When I go to Disney I want new and different things. So for that reason I am glad the McDonalds is going but I wish they would have come up with something more original. :)

I hear ya....that is why we don't step into the RFC or Planet Hollywood. We have those restaurants not too far from us. And then there is McDs which is at every corner :sad2:. Can't wait to try out the new restaurant :goodvibes
