I'm a long time jazz concert goer, but I've never been to the HoB in DTD. One of my favorite groups (Swing Out Sister) will be performing there on June 1st and I've got a couple of questions anyone who's been to a show there.

1. Is it a good place to watch a jazz show?
2. The ticket price (~$20) is for general admission, but I couldn't find pricing for reserved seating, is the whole venue general admission?
3. I'd be going solo as my DW & DS are out of town on that date, are single tables/seats easy to get?
4. Where would a 'good' seat be or is the whole venue about equal?
5. Since it's a restaurant, is food & drink available before / during the show?

Thanks for any information :rockband:

I have seen several shows at HOB Anahiem so I'll try to answer your questions from my recollection....

1 - It's a very intimate place...so yes, it should be a nice place for a jazz show.
2 - Generally, it's an open floor so it's all general admission. The upstairs has a balcony rail that goes all the way around, but it is generally reserved for the "bands tickets." You can stand behind that but won't see as much. Your best bet is on the floor level, but get there early and stake out a rail position rather than on the actual floor.
3 - No real seats (unless they have special seating for this show), just a few bar stools around the rails
4 - Like I said, it's a pretty small venue so it should be very easy to see everything...if there are no tables/seats, go for a rail position.
5 - There are bars in the venue, however, for food you have to eat out in the restaurant (separate area).

Hope it helps...

Thanks, that's a lot different than I expected. Somehow standing for a couple of hours doesn't seem as attractive as I hoped the show might be. I'll have to think about this a little more. Thanks again.
