Does anyone know about this - it seems that Virgin are charging for dropping your luggage off on the morning when you are departing Orlando = is this correct?

Yes it is correct unless you have booked with Virgin Holidays then it is free, as one of their little perks :)

Claire ;)

As Claire said, if you book with Virgin Holidays then it is free, otherwise there is a charge of $5. We used this service a couple of years ago and, to me, it is well worth the $5 they charge :)

Hi

We had to pay $5 back in 2003 to use DTD checkin too, it's not something that they have just introduced.

We usually book a F/D with VH so don't have to pay, but out of interest, do they charge $5pp or per party?

I think it's $5 each Gill - like you we do not have to pay as we book with Virgin Holidays.

We probably wont use it - as we are staying at GF we want to use the last part of our holiday in MK so will just drive to the airport straight afterwards, seems daft to travel to DTD if we also have to pay for it.

Thanks for the responses though.

Its also free for those of us who are Upper Class pax and also for those of us who are Flying Club Gold card holders. :sunny:

Its a $5 per person charge.

Claire ;)

It suits me down to the groud this facility :)

It will cost me $20 for my family of four (what's that? £13) and we get to enjoy extra time in the parks and no hassle with lugging bags through MCO :)

We used this facility 3 years ago and thought it was fab. $5 pp, but when we checked our luggage in we were told there was a 3 hour delay on our flight and not to get to the airport until 3 hours later than planned!

Had another full day in the parks.

Have you seen the lines at the MCO check in desks they snake all over the place- its worth the $5 just to avoid that alone!

Its also free if you fly Upper Class too

HOw do you get it? do you buy vouchers before you go or when you get to the airport on the way out?

Paula, I believe if you aren't travelling with Virgin Holidays, you pay the charge when you get to DTD to check in. If you are travelling with VH, you get the vouchers along with your tickets etc.

I can't wait to use this facility later in the year - what a boost to know we don't have to waste the last day of our holiday! :cool1: As we don't drive on holiday, we usually spend the last day hanging around the hotel waiting for our transport. :rolleyes1

This time, we can get rid of the luggage early, go to the parks, DTD, or whatever, have a nice meal before we leave and get picked-up where ever we choose! :teeth:

$5 each seems like a bargain to me just to be "luggage-free!" :cheer2:

We used a similar facility last year, checking in at LBV when travelling with TCD and the $5 was sooooo worth not having to join the queue at Sanford (which was miles long!)

Am not convinced jtlover understoodthe concept, it isnt just a luggage drop off, you check in for your flight aswell which save's queuing at the airport and dragging luggage around all day if you have an evening flight.

We were staying at GF in September, we checked in at DTD about 8.30 am and were back at GF about 20 mins later. We got to MCO at 6pm - a great time saver.

Just wanted to add that TCD also have this facility at LBV - it cost $5 p.p. if pre booked, and $10 if you turn up on the day. :cool1:

The Virgin DTD check in is so worth the extra few dollars. You basically have another full day because you don't have to go to the airport so early. It is very easy and I would thoroughly recommend it. If you do decide to do this, there is a dedicated car park for Virgin check in. We of course didn't discover this until we had parked miles away and had to lug our cases though DTD!!! You live and learn I suppose :rotfl:

:wave2:

Our flight is at 7.55 p.m. and our car has to be be back by 5.00 p.m. so I dont see the point in doing the DTD and paying the fee. Unless someone convinces me otherwise. ;)
