DTD Car Rental

We are considering renting a car at SNA and using it to stop at a grocery store on our way to the GCH. We used SS previously and liked their service, but we really need a grocery stop. We don't necessarily need to keep the car the entire time we're there, but if it is cheapest to do it that way, we can. I wondered which companies have rental car agencies in DTD. That would be a very convenient drop off location for us.

I know of Alamo in Downton Disney. I believe there is another one at one of the good neighbor hotels but not sure. We are wanting to go to catalina one day and are debating whether or not to rent a car or get a taxi.

Have you considered ordering your groceries ahead of time and having them delivered? Then you could avoid the extra expense of renting a car. Also, there are lots of convenience stores up and down Harbor Blvd. If you're just looking for breakfast items and snacks, you'll be able to find them easily within walking distance. The prices are jacked up but it would probably still cost you less overall than if you rented a car.

Thanks for the tips. We'll look at Alamo. We thought about grocery delivery, but we know there is a minimum purchase, and that puts the price above the rental car. And I have heard reports of the GCH not being able to store your groceries if you're not there. It might just be easier to shop once we have the room.

As for the convenience stores, it will be a lot of real groceries; we're staying in the villas so we pick up lots. The jacked up prices will probably not work for that reason.

We haven't decided yet. Our trip is next May, so we were planning WAY in advance. We decided to wait and see what our flights end up looking like. We may opt to use a town car service that includes a grocery stop. We used a town car before to go to the cruise ship port in San Pedro, and we were really impressed with the service. I don't remember the name of the company, but I'm sure I have it in my papers somewhere. My in-laws are joining us too, so that throws another wrench into the situation. If we arrive at roughly the same time, sharing rides might be an option thus throwing the whole price comparison out of whack.
