DTD boat rentals, I have a question?

I am going to surprise the kids with renting a pontoon boat in DTD , It says on this website to call and make a reservation. So I called Disney and they said that I did not need one, just to call the day of and make sure they were available. That doesn't really make me feel good about getting one.
Has anyone ever rented one of these or any other boat rental and made a reservation, or did you just get one while down there! Thanks, I want to make sure we get to do this!

We've rented the pontoon boats and sea sprites without a reservation everytime. Even in the middle of July there were always boats available. You can also rent them from the resorts if for some reason DTD is busy. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I'm sorry, I just looked and I don't have any pics. They are pretty standard pontoon boats, no Disney decor or anything. They will give you a quick 'lesson' and you're on your way. I hope you and your family have fun.

Last July, we vacationed in WDW with another family (family of five) & one afternoon, spur of the moment, they decided to head over to DTD for lunch & rent two boats. They had no problems and their two boys had a blast!

Later that same trip, they rented boats at the Contemporary Marina as well. I know both of her boys (ages 14 & 9) liked those boats better (said they went faster!).
