Last week we tried our first ever Disney trip without a car. We used Magical Express to and from the airport, and Disney busses for everything else.
On our first evening, we took a bus to DTD from Pop. Waited about 10-15 min. We got there and while we were there a HUGE storm blew up. There were even tornados in Wildwood and Ocala. We ran out to the bus stop and had *just* missed a bus to our resort. But another one was right behind it.
We were at DHS for opening the next day. No problem getting there, although the bus *was* packed.
The only glitch came when we were taking a bus from DHS to EPCOT. The signage is very confusing. There is a sign that says busses to EPCOT, but then the next sign only says something about charter busses. We walked all the way back to the first sign only to figure out that the EPCOT bus does indeed pull up to the charter bus area. We had to run full speed to catch the bus. They need to mark that better (and the signage is better at every other park!)
The next day we transferred from Pop to Beach Club. We ate breakfast at DTD. Again, we didn't wait long for a bus and then when our meal was done, we waited at the bus stop (having again just missed a bus for the EPCOT resort area). A bus pulled up, but there was a lost person on it who didn't speak English. The bus driver said he was sorry, but he needed to help the person, and he closed the doors and pulled away. Another bus came in a couple of minutes.
We never had to wait very long for any bus, even in the less busy season at the dreaded DTD bus stop. It was a bit of a pain that the EPCOT resorts share a bus, but it did seem that some days, like after the fireworks at MK, they had Beach/YC specific busses.
We would go without a car again, but only if it's a short trip (or if we're staying concierge again like at BC, where there's ready access to snacks and drinks).
