DTC vs. CRO - Who should I pay?

I currently have ressies with both DTC and CRO for our stay. I'm afraid to call and ask a CM since one lectured me about having two ressies. I know I'm not the only one who does this, but I don't want to press my luck since she told me she is surprised one hasn't gotten cancelled. We will soon be getting our income tax back and I would like to pay off my trip. Like many of you, I'm hoping for a code or AP discount to come out later for my room only ressie w/CRO.

My question is, if I pay off my reservations with CRO and I want to cancel them later and stick with my package deal through DTC, will they transfer the balance or just refund my $? I don't want to pay my DTC ressies in full because we have airfare reserved that I don't want to pay for until the last minute (looking for a better deal). When I cancel one, will they transfer the money for me to the other ressie?

TIA!

I always avoid making ressies through DTC because they have very restrictive cancelation policies. I would call DTC and check thier restrictions and then decide. Do it as soon as possible, You don't have to identify yourself just get the info. Good Luck:)

I can cancel up to 45 days before for a refund. Currently, they only have a $100 deposit on my package, so they would refund that amount. I'm not going until November, so I have time on my side. No trip insurance involved.

I think they would transfer the $$$'s and as far as a lecture I would halt it before it begins. You are the customer and if they have your money they need to be respectful. There is no hard rule for having more than one reservation people do it all the time at other places. They play too many games at DW so you have to be a player. They made the problem. If they would just give you a good price right off the bat they wouldn't have this double ressie problem.

I originally had my reservations through CRO...when I became a DC member they were transferred to WDTC with one phone call.

With CRO..your deposit is equal to one nite's stay (hotel rate)....WDTC's deposit is a flat $100. So...if your room will be more than $100 nitely...you will owe an additional amount of money to CRO shortly after you book with them....if not...you are totally fine and the extra money will be credited to your account.

My information is that you can keep switching your reservations when you find better deals....up until 45 days out with WDTC.

Hope that helps....actually I just hope it makes sense!!

I do have my deposits down on both reservations. I wanted to pay one of my trips off and was wondering when I cancelled one later if they could transfer my money to the other reservation instead of refunding my money directly to me.

I just hate to call CRO/DTC since I was told I shouldn't have two reservations in the first place.

WDTC wouldn't transfer my funds to my new ressie. They insisted they needed to credit my credit card. Don't know if that is so - but it was okay with me. Hope you can decide soon enough.

Our original ressie was through CRO, when DC rates came out we had to make new ressie with WDTC with new deposit and CRO credited our paid money back to the credit card. Once it showed up on the credit card, I charged it to the new DC ressie. ~:)~

The Main Advantage I see in using cro is you can cancel 5 days before arrival with no penalty. You have a couple of weeks to send in one nights deposit and ,unlike dtc, you can pay the balance anytime up to check in. This has been a life saver for me because my work often requires me to change vacation plans. cro makes it easy to shift deposits to new dates or get a full refund if there is a change of plans. ;)
