DSL at HH?

Hi - we're heading off to HH tomorrow and was wondering if the resorts have high speed internet yet - and if so - what the price is?

There was no high-speed available this past summer and I'm not aware of any change since.

There is also minimal dialup access at HH for many of the national providers. A couple of the local ISP's offer a 1 week contract in the $10-15 range. Hargray (telephone co.) is one of them.

AOL does have local access available.

Thanks Doc - I've gotten so spoiled with DSL that regular "slow" internet drives me insane...I guess we'll have to "suffer"!

I understand ... and agree!

At the WDW resorts, broadband access in the DVC resorts will be $9.95 per 24 hour period. I'd expect similar charges when/if it comes to HH and VB. I think BCV is the only one with high speed access already installed.

Here's what you do... (or what we did)..

Buy a calling card, and dial up to your ISP from the phone in the room. 800#s are free calls, and as long as you can live with slow dial-up, then this is the most cost effective way we found to get online.

For configuring it...it is 5 pauses between 800#, calling card access # and ISP #.

The calling card thing is what I do most of the time. If you just need to check e-mail occasionally, then you can go to the public library and get a temporary library card for free, then use their computers to surf and read e-mail. No storage is available. There is no floppy drive or CD-R so you can just browse.

You can also download AOL on a temporary basis and get a zillion hours free during the first 45 days.

The call to the AOL number on Hilton Head is local -- only 35 cents for members.
