I've been going back and forth between the DSI XL & the 3DS for my DS6 1/2. Right now he has the DS lite & I would like to go with the 3DS since it seems like the new games are going that route.

At first they were discouraging the 3DS for younger kids, is that still the case? I know you can turn off the 3D feature but does that only work for games that aren't specifically 3D? Also, does anyone know if you can play 3DS games on a DSI?

Ug, lots of questions...hoping someone has some answers to point me in the right direction so I can pick up one or the other while the sales are in full force. If I would have went with the DSI instead of the lite in the first place I wouldn't even be considering an upgrade..don't want to make a bad choice again!

Thanks so much for any advice! :flower3:

My DD has a game boy advance, DSLite and DSiXL.....I like the XL...the scream is bigger and easier for the kids to plan and watch each other...the screen on the DSi3D is small like the lite. I'd probably consider it if the screen was bigger..you can play regular ds games on the 3D but not vice versa. I'm concerned about how many 3D games they are going to really come out with...

My DS is 5.75, and is getting the 3DS. I did a lot of research before choosing this one, and let him play at the store. You can turn off the 3D aspect for 3D games, and play non-3DS games. The battery life is lower (8 hours with 3D turned off). He really likes the circle pad control, none of the others have that yet. Pretty sure the sizes are similar to the DSi, maybe a tad smaller, but we don't have one yet to compare.
