We are thinking of taking our two daughters to Discovery Cove to swim with the dolphins both aren,t very strong swimmers would you recomend we take them? Also what is included for those who don,t do the dolphin swim?

I'm sure you are right. I wanted to go but my boy is 5 and a very good swimmer. He would have been heartbroken to be left out so we didn't book.

We took our 2 boys to DC in Aug 2002, our eldsest who was then 10 is a very strong competative swimmer, our youngest then 6 had a fear of water that would be explain if you looked at my thread on the seaworld/ discovery cove disboard entitled 'dolphin swims and splashes'. We had a brilliant day and apart from Matthew (the youngest) being cold when in the water with the Dolphins) all his fear seemed to go! in fact at the end of the day we had to drag him out of the area where you snorkel in the warm water, we are hoping to go again this yeaer, but try it you might be surprised at the reaction you get from the children.

We did this 2 years ago. My eldest daughter was then 8 but she is a much better swimmer than myself. I’m not good in the water and tend to avoid it other than splashing around in the shallow end of a pool. You do have to go out into some pretty deep water but what I found was the ability to doggy paddle and keep afloat was more important than swimming ability. Having said that you do get life jackets which help. However I would still recommend this as getting so up close and personal with the dolphin is such a wonderful experience. We’re just waiting till our youngest turns 6 so we can repeat the experience.

we went last year, me and mother in law did the dolphin swim and the men went without the dolphin swim. my mother in law was worried becuase she isn't a very stong swimmer but the trainers are very good. you can stand up in the water at the edge when you are with the dolphins and you only get taken out into deep water once, the trainer goes with you. the children there were all wearing life vests as well.

without a dolphin swim you still get to swim with stingrays and through the bird room etc! You get your dinner included too but i had to queue for ages to get mine!
