Generally he is fine with almost everything and I had totally forgotten about his issue until it popped up this weekend.

Loud music during shows can be problematic for him. I am not sure if it is the base, or something else...but we were at King's Island this weekend and went into Festhause to meet up with DH. He couldn't tolerate the sound/noise, he had his hands over his ears and was just wanting to run out the door to get away from it. It was dance/music show and it was loud (not as loud as a concert, but fairly loud all the same...

Any suggestions on shows to avoid, or do they have any type of accomodations for kids with sensory issues like this..I was considering noise reduction/cancelling headphones to see if it helped any...but not sure if it would. (I would purchase not expecting them to be provided)...

We use the "Peltor Jr" noise cancelling headphones and they work great. My DD used them many times on her recent trip (for shows, rides, etc) and she wasn't bothered by the noise at all. She uses them at school for assemblies and fire drills, too.

maybe you can try those little squishy foam ear plugs. they sell them in kids sizes in walmart and are not expensive. it might be enough to help him. we used to get them for dgd for fireworks and stuff like that.

When he was that young, my DS11 never liked wearing headphones. So I always have some of these squishy ear plugs in a Ziploc bag in my purse. They've saved us many times!

I will bring some of those next time we go to KI and see if it helps.

He does well with headphones.

We also use the Peltor kids noise canceling headphones. We purchased them on Amazon. We always pack them for Disney. My DS can still here us speaking to him ( though we have to speak up) ,but it is great for certain rides that have loud parts (ex.Big Thunder Mtn) ,music or fireworks. Read the reviews ,see if you think will help him out.☺

Sounds and noise are a big issue for my kids, and these are what we use, too.

The squishy foam plugs can actually be too effective. If that's the case you can trim them down (make them shorter).

I carry folding headphones for my son and I keep a set of wired MP3 type in ear headphones in my bag for me... They are just enough to keep me comfortable in especially loud situations.

Another vote here for the Peltor Jr. headphones. My son could not survive the world without them! :)

We love the Peltor Jr headphones. They fit my 2 yo and both of the adults in the house, so no issues with sizing. DS wore these all over the place on our Disney Cruise, including to dinner in loud restaurants. These are going to be a must carry for us when we go to WDW.
