DS16 got a job!! (but........)

I did not read the entire thread, so this may have been answered.

1) Does the OP's son live with her? The DGD too?

2) Where does the mother live? How old is she? Does she work and/or go to school?

i'm the OP, so i will answer your questions.
DS, his GF and the baby all live with me. GF moved in when the baby was born. GF is 18 and in a high school for teen parents. she does not work. getting her to go to school is hard enough!
i will tell you that they are both being very responsible parents. they are learning together and have a very strong relationship.
DS has a good, loving, supportive (extended) family. GF's family is the total opposite. :sad2: all of this growing and learning, etc has been easier for my DS because of the family he was raised in. GF on the other hand has had so many changes, and is learning still. i can't express to you how proud i am of both of them!

Have you talked to your son's girlfriend about your son's schedule? What is her feelings about him over working, lack of sleep, and thoughts of quitting school? I have to wonder if his over motivation is a result of her lack of.

she doesn't have a lack of motivation at all. she just had a hard time leaving the baby during the 1st couple of months. completely understandable as a new 1st time mom!
she knows he needs/wants to work, but doesn't like the schedule either.

Has she suggested the possibility of getting a job so that he can cut back some? It really isn't just about HIM needing to work.

yep. that was their original plan. to both work a little bit. there just aren't jobs available. DS lucked out when he got this job. that's why he took it and wants to try to keep it.
it was actually a wrong number that called us, and he ended up with a job!
