DS16 big audition this weekend for DCI (Carolina Crown)

Well, we're off to Charlotte, NC to drop off DS16 and friend to audition for the DCI corp Carolina Crown!

They are both so scared and excited! I know they'll have fun no matter what! Has anyone here been in DCI??

Wish us luck! (DCI = Drum Corp International..... a national drum and bugle corps)

Very Cool! I LOVE DCI and wish him the best of luck! Those kids work so hard, I'm glad that you are supporting his efforts as a parent (not all parents do).

Awesome!!! Best of luck to them! I love marching bands and DCI...my DD was in guard for many a year and her best friend in percussion...they still are while at college!

Good luck! I love DCI! They did a show in Charelston. My personal favorite was the Madison Scouts. Carolina Crown wasn't there.

Good luck to him! DS hasn't been in DCI, but he's had lots of friends in DCI. I THINK he has a friend who made Carolina Crown about 3 years ago, but then her parents (who are extremely conservative) wouldn't go for her traveling all summer. Isn't Carolina Crown the one who used to have a percussion director named Paul- (I can't remember his last name) who was from University of North Texas? If so, that's the same one she would have been in. Also, another friend of DS (he's a musician) was Drum Major for the Scouts, and he worked at DL with 2 guys who'd done DCI. A couple of the Jammitors did DCI years ago. So tell your DS that if he does DCI, it increases his chances of getting a job at Disney!

Best wishes to your son! I am a HUGE DCI fan and will be attending Finals in Madison in August! Carolina Crown's show thls past season was one of my favorites! I will also be in San Antonia and Murfreesboro next summer for the shows, so maybe all the DIS fans can hook up at a DCI show!!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement! We just walked back in! They had a great time! He plays snare in high school, but tried out for bass this weekend. His high school has a different grip than what they use at Carolina Crown, so bass was his best bet.

He thinks he did well. There were only about 14 trying out for 5 bass spots. They'll both go back Dec. 16 for that weekend and another audition.

They are both exhausted! It was quite an experience! I was very impressed and anxious for the next step!

Go DCI! Oh, how did the child from Spartanburg do? What was he/she auditioning for?
