DS10 & Hives

Has anyone experienced Hives & how long do they normally last? DS came down with them Sunday night after an overnight camping trip--also had sore throat & fever so thought it might be strep or an allergy(maybe got into something camping) Took him to ped. yesterday & strep test was negative--said just a virus if rash doesn't clear up by Fri to take him back. It has been 3 days & hives are still popping up(we are giving benadryl) now, he is getting a cold sore & he's never ever gotten one of those before. He starts 5th grade on Tuesday---could this be stress induced? any thoughts? TY!!

My 12yodd can get stress induced hives on the spot, within seconds.

I would be more inclined to say that this might be allergy or sickness related since you mention a sore throat and a cold sore.

I hope he feels better soon.

I've only seen them as an allergic or nervous reaction and Benadryl helped. DS will sometimes get them on his feet and ankles and lower legs if he is really anxious or nervous about something.

thanks...I'm thinking it's not stress, but it's stressing me out-that's for sure!
