Our trip is coming up next month ds was 9 when I booked it but he will be 10 I guess I have to call hah and tell Disney. We did the dining plan too so that will go up too? Yikes
Do you think they card 10 year olds?

It will go up (a lot), and your child will know how old he is. There is also a big difference on what he gets to order - kids meals at WDW are probably the worst I've experienced.

it will go up at a bare minimum 40$ a day probably more like 60+ because he now has the adult dining plan is it 42$ now? and then he has to have an adult ticket too.

I believe the DDP is $11.99 for kids under 9 and $41.99 for kids over 10 (unless you're going during the times when there's a 'premium' on the DDP), so his DDP cost would go up $30 per night.

He will also need an 'adult' park ticket, which is more expensive than a child's ticket. The difference, of course, is dependent on your length of stay.

To answer your question, no they won't card him and I doubt they will even bat an eye if you say he's still 9.

The ticket prices go up and since our DS turned 10, the dining plan isn't worth it for us anymore. $10.00 a day was a good deal, $42.00 a day is not. My DS who is now 11 just isn't that much into adult food yet. He still likes his chicken fingers and fries.

You will pay more for the tickets and about $30.00 more a day for food.

When i booked they asked me how old my boys would be when I arrived.
I agree that my boys being 8 and 9 do not like the kids meals at WDW. They were so tired of ordering the same foods at every TS. My oldest son looks forward to the time when he can order off the adult menu.
I also know my kids would say "hey I am 10" if someone called them 9 and they weren't.

The only people who will know are your conscience and Disney if you have ever stayed there before. They do keep track so if you ever stayed they know already when they turn 10. The other person is you. Can you live with lying for an entire week? The only person who knows that answer is you.

Will he turn ten during the trip, or before the trip starts? If it is during the trip, Disney will still consider him 9.

If he is 9 when the trip begins, he will be considered a "child 3-9" for the entire trip. If he is 10 when the trip begins, he will be considered an adult. I don't think that I would ask my child to lie.

On top of that, when we went in December, DD9 (turned 10 last month) was so sick of kids' meals (TS and CS) that I just bought her whatever she wanted to eat on one of the last few days (used about 4 snack credits to make a meal). She was pretty frustrated. It really is kind of an in between age, so he might not be happy with kids' meals in any case.

It depends on the kid, and I would have him look at the menus and ask what he thinks. If you aren't at a buffet or a "family style" restaurant, he can still order from the kids' menu at TS and CS (anyone can). At buffet or family style, you have to pay adult prices for a 10 year old no matter what he eats. If he looks at the menus and would still rather eat from the kids' menus, buying the adult dining plan for him would be a waste of money. If he looks at menus and prefers the adult entrees, then I would crunch numbers. Or if you are eating at a lot of buffets or family style, I would crunch the numbers - DP might still be worth it.

I think it depends on what kind of food he likes to eat. My son isn't very big and he will be 11 on our next trip. He would easily pass for 9. I considered saying he was 9 because we did this when my DD turned 3, three days before we left for Disney. We said she was 2 (yes very bad I know but she had only been 3 for three days) Anyway, my son wants the kid meal food. It is right up his alley. However my 9 year old daughter hates the kids meal and is thrilled about the fact her older brother is old enough to get it. Long story short, we are telling the truth and going with his real age so his sister can have the adult food :)

We are managing to squeeze a trip in before my middle DD turns 10 at the end of November (we are going 10/30 - 11/6)... I would never have her lie about her age, and if asked I know she would immediately tell them her age. Her sister is 11 (and looks 13) but she likes the kids food better - while the 9yr old likes the adult food. So it'll all work itself out since they can switch.

My son turns 10 two weeks before we leave for our April trip. We typically get the dining plan but I know he will still want the kids meals so we will not use the dining plan and see how it works out for us. I purposely bought 10 day non-expiring tickets which we used a few days on back on our Nov trip so that he would be upgraded to an adult ticket for free this trip now that he will be ten. I will probably get at least 2-3 more trips with this ticket since we spend a lot of time at the resort pool and we also have the water parks and more option.

This is good advice. Whether the dining plan is a good deal or not really depends on your family's eating habits. Look at the menus on allears.net and see which food your son would prefer, then you can decide if the DP is still a good deal for your family.

I would not lie about his age. The park ticket prices are not *that* different between child & adult - the difference for a MYW base ticket varies from $14-$35 depending on how many days you have. The DP will be the bulk of your cost increase, since it's $30/day more for the adult plan.
