Well, the electronic shock wave lithotripsy(sp) did NOT work since he is so small. They tried to go up through the ureter to blast it with a laser, but the ureter was too small for the instruments. So, that did NOT work.

They ended up putting a stent in (which we have NOT told him) that he will have for at least 2 weeks to try to widen the ureter enough for the instruments. I just cried when they had to put a stent in because I have so much problems with them. Some people don't, but just the thought of him maybe having that much pain and knowing I can't do anything......

Please send prayers and PD our way.

OH no! Im so very sorry!! :(

Prayers and PD on the way!!!

Oh, I am so sorry your son is going through this. Of course I will be praying for him. Bless his heart - that is awful to have to go through.

Poor kid. :( That sounds really painfull.

Oh no! That is awful news! :( I'm sorry your son is in such pain.

PD on its way! Poor guy!

How old is your son, jamsmom?

There is nothing worse than watching your child in pain wishing you could just take the pain for them. Lots of prayers and pixie dust! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Snoopy- he is 12 and will be 13 in July. He is just complaining about the burning sensation right now and where they first tried to start an IV (after "digging around" they finally tries a different spot) I am so hopeful that the stent doesn't give him the kind of problems that they give me. I have been told that some people have problems with stents for a day up to 3, but others (like me) have problems the entire time.

I just hate that I can't do anything. He also sees an allergist tomorrow....what else!!!

EDIT: It's 7:41pm here now and although he is not hurting like I was, he is complaining a bit more. I remember not knowing if it was the stent or the procedure. Since he doesn't know he has a stent, he just thinks it was from all the stuff from the ESWL. I hope that is all it is.

I am shamelessly bumping this up. I can't take away the pain, but I can ask for prayers and PD :)

Prayers and PD on the way for the little guy,
my best friend (male) has always has stones and I always feel so
bad for him when he has to have work done to pass them , and for it to be a child would be terrible ! :( Especially your child!!

Glad you bumped it. I've been away all day. I'll keep praying and I'm sending truckloads of pixie dust your son's way. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. I'm so very, very sorry to hear your news.

Pixie dust on it's way. I hope they are able to help him out and the pain and discomfort go away soon. How rough for both of you :(

Many prayers and much pixie dust for you and your little guy. Just reassure him and keep him as comfortable as you can. Remember how resiliant children are-I KNOW this will all turn out just fine. Please keep us posted. All of us here care very much.

I'm just now seeing this, jamsmom. I'm sorry that your son is having so much discomfort. I sure hope this situation is resolved quickly and he is 100% pain free very soon.

{{{HUGS}}} for mom, because it's so difficult for us when our babies hurt.
