DS just got a summer job!

Actually its for the same company he worked for last summer and they just rehired him during a phone interview. He is a lifeguard and apparently they are in big demand around here. He also got to pick his location since he called back right away. He is guarding like blocks from our house. Good because if the price of gas goes up then he can just walk there etc.

The interview guy wanted to know if ds 21 was coming back. He will actually be a college senior and really wants a job in his field, business, but with this economy, I think he better guard if he needs to in the summer to make some cash etc. I dont think he stands a chance around here in the business dept. with all the laid off wall street guys looking for a job.

Middle ds already works part time, but might pick up something somewhere else for a few more hours. My ds are so blessed to have jobs during this tough economy. I told them to do a good job and don't take anything for granted etc.

What state do you live in.
All my kids received their certificates to lifeguard,
but the weather in Wisconsin is so unpredictable,
plus if no one is at the pool they get sent home.
They do lessons in the morning, suppose to guard in the afternoon.
Then they have to do lessons again from 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Then the pool opens again from 6:00-7:30.
I would love for my dd to do it, but half the time she was only there
to teach lessons, no one ever wanted to swim.
Plus if it is below 80 in Wisconsin, no one swims either.

Honestly, if your son who's 21 can find an internship in his field, even unpaid, that'll do wonders a year from now.

More than half of my friends from school started working with companies that they interned with.

And the good news is that us "kids" out of college don't ask for as much money as those laid off wall street guys
