I measured DS today in his bare feet and he was just over 40". I am so excited. We are leaving in just over 3 weeks. He was 40" in his shoes when we went in August but we didn't even bother trying any of the 'big' rides. It wasn't worth the disapointment. I just hope our measuring tape is the same as Mickey's.:goodvibes

I hope so too.

NO matter what, it's good to only say things in terms of IF you can go on the ride. "Let's see if you can go today/this time, stand up straight and tall, don't hunch!" and various other ways of putting it.

And just b/c you made it past the first, remember, there's a second. Might not be this way at WDW, but I noticed that if I started carrying DS in line and the CM saw, that was an immediate re-measure. So again, stand up straight and tall, you WANT to hit that bar wiht your head (gently please)!"

My guy did not want to touch the bars with his head, he thought it would hurt. We had to really convince him that it was the goal. To stand up tall. DS was booted from Star Tours at Disneyland b/c a CM pushed down on his shoulder and slipped a piece of paper between head and measuring bar. Hubby lost his brain and didn't remind DS to stand straight and tall (and to tell CM to get hand off of child). NOT a good experience, but it definitely taught us ALL that nothing height-wise is for sure, when they are still that young!

Have fun, good luck!

GREAT.

Checked DGS on Christmas Day and barefoot he was just there!!!

Was planning our trip for past Oct before he turned 3 but DH's job changed our plans. Now he will be well over 40 for our next trip. Which rides do you plan to try?? DGS is just turned 3 and I am not sure. Know we are going to try test track but unsure on the others!!! He likes the small coasters such as goofy's.

DS is a bit of a chicken when it comes to rides so the fact he couldn't do certain rides hasn't been that much of a big deal. He will be turning 4 right before our trip so we are hoping he will be a bit more adventurous this time. I know we will have no problems getting him on Test Track. He loves the Speedway.

We definitely want to do Test Track, Soarin and Star Tours (DS has been watching the movies over Christmas). Splash will be closed and I know Dinosaur and TOT will be too scary for DS. And none of us are interested in Stitch. LOL

We leave in less than a month and Sloan measured 38 1/2 inches at the doctor's office yesterday. :sad1: He wants to ride test track but that obviously isn't going to happen.

We're celebrating because my son is also 40 inches finally. Of course, he's almost 5 1/2! It's been a long time coming. He can't wait for our next trip in April to go on a few more rides than last year.

Congratulations!!! I know how exciting that is. My DD (will be 4 in Feb) was 38 inches forever. We measured her a couple of weeks before our December trip and she had shot up to just over 40 inches in about a month. Quite a growth spurt! She was about 42 inches in shoes. She went screaming up and down the halls with excitement. She absolutely loved Soarin and Test Track. She chickened out of Splash Mountain after seeing how steep the boats dropped. I think our measuring tape must be shorter than Mickey's. I was worried she might get disappointed, but most CMs didn't even put her against the measuring stick. They just eyeballed her and said she was tall enough. One CM made her stand against the measuring stick at the entrance to Test Track and she was way above. DH was carrying her in one line, and the CM had him set her down to check her height and then when she was on her feet said "Oh Yeah, she is tall enough" and didn't even have her use the stick. I hope your little guy has a great time on the Big rides!

Yay! I'm envious! We're going in 3 weeks as well and my nearly 4 year old is an itty bitty smidge under 40" in her sneakers. The two rides I want to get her on are Test Track and Thunder Mountain Railroad. I figure it's not worth the disappointment to try for too many 40" rides, plus some might be too intense for her anyway. (We'll skip Stitch and Dinosaur for a while. I'm not sure if my 49" child will even try those!)
