I recently read a post about how people were angry because DS.com stopped price adjusting, and because you can't return to the B&M store any longer. I should have taken that as a sign, but stupid me, had DH place the order for my Xmas present (the holiday houses) on Mon for the 30% off they had running. Now, not 48 hours later, the same houses are 50% off (and I can use a 10% off code). Supposedly my order shipped this AM, so they can't cancel, and of course, price adj is out of the question. We're talking 60. + tax, so this is really bugging me. I shouldn't let it, because DH would've actually pd full price (plus shipping) if I didn't point out the 30% off sale. I am actually thinking of buying a second set, and return the first, or sell, gift, or use as replacements if one breaks. I could get another set for 99. plus tax, or call DS and complain to a higher up (probably won't do me any good). What would you do?

Well, since they don't price adjust, I would order a second set and then return the first one. You would be out the shipping, but would still save another $50, right?

I could use their box, but I'm not sure where they are located. I am in NY. I would think it would cost over 20 if these are a decent size and weight. Maybe a fellow DIS'er who sells on ebay could guesstimate for me?? Would I have to purchase ins, tracking, etc?

When the first purchase comes you can refuse it without opening it. Check with your PO, but if the package is unopened.........the USPS will send it back without charging return shipping.

If it's UPS or another delivery service......you'll have to check with them to see how you can return the pacakge if is unopened.

I'd wait until I get my second order first.

You can refuse a package from UPS, USPS, and Fedex; all you have to do is tell them you don't want it.

If they just leave it for you, call and they will pick it up (at no cost.)

Also, I have returned items to Disney before (opened). All I did was call and they mailed me a return slip (so that I didn't have to pay to ship it.)

I'm pretty sure they only do free returns by mailing a return slip to you if you are a Best Guest.

They did this for my DBF last year. He is not a best guest. He did have an odd experience though, he ordered me a snow white watch and he got an alice in wonderland one (which was in a snow white box). This happened 4 times. Until they finally told us that the snow white one was out of stock.

He mailed all 4 Alice in wonderlands back together, with them paying the shipping.

I just ordered these houses on Monday also for 30% off and wouldn't have known they were 50% off now if I didn't read this thread! That stinks, to send them back would cost a lot I would think.

I ordered these on Monday night also; but they were marked down to $34.99 and with the additional 30% off, they came to $24.49.

I can sympathize because the last order I made, 4 of the 7 items were marked down the next day, I also called and they said that they no longer price adjust. I was tempted to reorder and ship the items back. But for a $20 difference; it would probably cost me almost the same to ship back plus I would have to deal with the post office.

I will not refuse the first shipment, because there were 3 other items in there that would cost about 10. more to reorder now. They are the barbie doll, and two pet costumes. I will probably just see how much it will cost me to send the 4 houses back via USPS, with insurance. This stinks even more now that I hear that they went on sale Mon night, since DH actually wanted me to wait to order till he got home from work, and I didn't want to take the chance that my stuff would be sold out by then (so I ordered Mon afternoon). I know this is wrong, but what would stop me from calling them to say the box was broken when it was delivered, and I want them to send a postage lable to return due to damage? The box I received from them today was torn down one whole side, and one piece of tape was holding the top closed (and this was a BIG box, as it contained the HM tapestry, and a comforter set). If I say only one box was damaged, but I send all four back, will they charge me the difference in postage?

the HM tapestry I received was the wrong one! The box has the right item # on it (I ordered the quicksand one), but the one I received was the lady sitting on the tombstone. I called DS.com, and the rep is issuing a call tag for it. She said I need to ship it back in the box it came in.....but the box is HUGE, since I had ordered a comforter set, etc. I asked if I could put the holiday houses I wanted to return in there as well, and she said no. What do you think will happen if I put them in there anyway? And, what does it mean when they issue a call tag? Does a shipping label come in the mail, or do I need to ask my mail lady?

I'm not sure about the issue with the return, but if you cannot send the houses back with the other item, send them via FedEx. I shipped a PegPrego highchair from NC to CA for under $25 a few years ago. That was almost 30 pounds.

You could also list them on Ebay for what you paid for them...at 30% off retail I'm sure you would probably get a bite and the customer pays for shipping not you. This way you can get your $$$ back honestly and not feel guilty about returning in the box with wrong items.
OR
Maybe you know someone who would like them and they would buy them from you - no explanation necessary other than we ended up with 2 sets and the items are still new in the boxes.

Good Luck

A call tag is when they tell the shipper to come pick up your item. I have needed one for orders several times. I am not sure what they will do if you put the other houses in, but I would call and speak to someone else about it. That one person may not know what she is talking about.

(Case in point, I was suppose to be issued a $35.00 gift card due to an issue with them. Well, the card came and it was only $10.00. When I called yesterday, the rep I spoke with said that I didn't even receive the card and that they never issue gift cards (basically calling me a liar). After speaking to a supervisor, she said that the rep was wrong and would send me a new card right away.)

I would call back and speak to a supervisor. Good Luck!

Have you actually received the houses yet? I was going to order them for 50% off, but wasn't sure of the quality and such. Thanks!

I would call back and ask someone else about putting the houses in the box. Don't see why you couldn't anyway...

Hey Frannn check out how much the holiday houses are going for on ebay I think you will do just fine selling them there and pay for some of your other purchases ;-)
