My dd wants this for her big gift, since we are only doing about 5 gifts a piece this year, I want it to be a good one! Are they worth it or are they going under? I'm confused. There don't seem to be many games for it either. :confused3

I think whether it's worth it depends on if she already has a handheld game system. Personally, I wouldn't think it was worth it (yet) for someone who has a DSi already. But for someone who doesn't and who wants to play Nintendo games (as opposed to the sorts of things available on the ipod), then the 3DS is great. It plays DS, DSi and 3DS games so for someone who hasn't played the older games there's a large backlog of games to choose from. I have one and like it, though I mostly play DS games on it.

Some people report headaches from the 3D effect. I get terrible headaches from all sorts of things so I was afraid I wouldn't be able to use the 3D but I've actually been able to use it quite a bit with no problems. It's not recommended that young children use the 3D much, and you can turn the 3D off if you don't want to use it.

There aren't a lot of 3DS games out yet, but that's changing. Basically, they released the system too early. There weren't many games ready when the system was first released, but good games are finally starting to come out now. Mario Kart, Super Mario 3D land, Luigi's Mansion 2, Animal Crossing 3DS, Kid Icarus and Kingdom Hearts 3D are a few major titles that have been announced and most of those will be coming out over the next few months. Nintendo has also announced a press conference to be held on Sept 13 which will apparently feature a major announcement about the 3DS.

My youngest son has one. The picture has added depth rather than coming out towards you. There is a slider which lets you adjust the 3d effect.

He is very pleased with it, but only has the zelda game so far.
I bought it with a deal at EB games where you trade in a game worth $8 and they gave you $25 dollar credit towards a new system so I did not pay full price for his new DS. Had more than one game.

He is pleased with it and any one that has played with it enjoys the technology.

the prices have come down under $200 so my DS's have asked for one for Christmas. Planning on buying them next week.

I hope its worth it because I got one for my ds for Christmas. He did try it out in Target and thought it was really cool, and he is excited about the new Mario games coming out for it.

Thanks all! I bought two yesterday online for 169.00 each, which is a deal compared to the $249 sticker it started with, but was unsure about the games. Guess I'll get a couple of the games when they come out. The girls really seem to love Mario. lol

The thing is they both have ds's, not the dsi or dslites, and iPod touches. So I was wondering if it would be worth it. I'm gonna keep them I think. :)
