Dry weddings question

So looking at the minimum food and beverage expenditures, it's making me wonder if a Disney wedding would be right for us. We want a dry wedding and I'm thinking to spend 175$ per person on food alone is unrealistic, we'll have to roll our guests back to their hotel! Has anyone done a dry wedding? Was it do-able or was it really stretching your imagination on how to make it work??

The maximum food and beverage expenditure for Disney Weddings is $125 per person...it is lower if you have a lunch or breakfast/brunch reception. Its definitely doable even for an evening wedding...if you have an $80 dinner menu, plus a $30 pre-reception menu, plus a soda and water package, and the wedding cake per person fee...you can easily meet the highest expenditure.

If you have more money to spend on the food instead of the beverages, maybe you can really focus on quality instead of quantity. like... really fancy shmancy stuff you never would have dreamed of affording before.

$175 is the minimum per person for a Couture Wedding, maybe that's where that number is coming from? The minimums for Wishes events are definitely lower, as PrincessWendy said.

Oh good heavens no, Couture Wedding is not even in the same world as the budget, haha. I guess it is true though, not having to worry about adding alcohol into the mix we can focus on a fantastic meal. If we're falling short and want to add, say, a dessert party or after ceremony brunch does that all count towards that minimum?

Thanks all for your help, looking forward to prowling some wedding trip reports!

It is way confusing when you first start slogging through Disney Weddings. dont give up yet! what type of event are you considering? escape weddings are small (under 18 people) and dont have spending minimums unless you add extra events. they are a package deal.

for a 2011 wishes wedding, a brunch reception has a disney minimum of $75 per person over the age of 21, lunch is $100, and evening is $125. This includes all food, beverage, cake for the event.

We have had little trouble meeting the minimums. a $60 menu, cake, and soda bar put us over the requirements.

Only food and beverage that's served on the day of the wedding counts toward the overall food and beverage minimum. But if you have a pre-reception, dinner, non-alcoholic beverages, a cake, and a dessert party after the reception, you'll have no trouble meeting the minimum. :thumbsup2

I'm having a dry wedding too, but a morning one, and it's been NO problem meeting the $75 minimum. However, I don't think it would be a problem meeting the $125 minimum--- remember, it's disney, and their food is yummy, but expensive!

By all means, if you want to have a dry wedding, do so.

We had a cocktail hour that served alcohol, and then cut the service to soda only after that, throughout dinner.

We had no problem meeting our $125 per person minimum with only the hour alcohol service. We opted to take out the seafood from our buffet to lower our per person cost.

If you are trying to make the $125 minimum (or even the $175 minimum if applicable), just add in some fancy stuff - seafood, surf & turf, characters, etc.

Believe me (and all Dis-Brides), it adds up, so you should have to problem if you are already prepared to spend that much anyway.

Happy planning.

You'll have no trouble meeting the Wishes minimum. We had a dry wedding, with a brunch buffet on a Thursday. Between the pre-reception, buffet, non-alcoholic beverage station and the cake, meeting the minimum wasn't an issue at all.
