Any ideas what I can use?

The scalp is the problem... it's not flakey, it's super itchy though (to the point of bleeding sorry TMI)

My hair is naturally really oily.

Any good products out there or easy home remedies?

I wash my hair every other day because I have a LOT of hair and it takes forever to dry (blow-dry takes an hour, air dry takes hours).

Thanks!

DD10 has the SAME problem. It is really kind of strange how the hair itself can be kind of dry but her scalp is VERY oily. I tell her if I don't wash her hair every night, I can actually smell scalp. Anyway, after trying all kinds of shampoos, what I have found to work the best is Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo and then I use the Suave 2 minute recovery deep conditioner (it comes in a tube) on the ends of her hair only. I can't get any conditioner near her scalp or it would be really oily. The conditioner is less than $1.50 a tube at WalMart and it's a good thing because she has so much hair. I only blow dry it for special occasions because it takes close to an hour to get it completely dry. I braid it loosely every night or it would be all tangled in the mornings. Her hair is almost to her waist so she can't really wear it down to school. It is normally in a ponytail or french braided. We tried a bunch of expensive shampoos but in this case, the Suave really has worked the best.

Hope this helps,
Julie

Sounds like an allergy to an ingredient to me.

Try getting a shampoo with no citric acid in it. It was making my scalp itch constantly, and having my hands in my hair was making it greasy feeling.

I was thinking the same thing.

As a teenager my hair is really oily so I use Pantene Clarifying shampoo then I use whichever Pantene conditioner works best for me and I don't have much problem.

I have oily hair and have had dry scale in the past. I use Denorex shampoo - it doesn't say it is for oily hair, but my hair looks clean for two days when I use it as opposed to looking oily again the next day when I use oily hair shampoo.

Try Paul Mitchell Tea tree oil shampoo - it really helps stop the itching and flaking. It feels nice and tingly on your scalp and even though it is made with oil it seems to control the oil in hair well. Since the tea tree oil is mainly for the scalp, it may help to shampoo with something else (after using it) designed for oily hair. Good luck!

If your scalp is dry, do NOT use clarifying shampoo! It has astringents in it to strip oil away, and will make a dry scalp worse. Try switching to a mild shampoo, or moisturizing. If you use moisturizing shampoo, your scalp won't work overtime to produce the oil in your hair.

You can also try getting a sulfate-free shampoo. Other ingredients that can irritate your scalp are silicones and proteins.
