We got up fairly late after HHN and DH watched a bit of the footie before we left Sheraton at around 11:45. Grabbed a burger from McD's and then we were off on the road in the 'beast' to Port Canaveral for our first Disney Cruise.
We arrived at the port around 13:00 and were on the ship by 13:25. We were annnounced onboard (very loudly) 'All the way from manchester england, the Drummond family'. I thought I was about to fight Ricky Hatton with that introduction.
gig:
We grabbed a bite to eat in Parrots Cay and then headed down to our stateroom. We had booked a cat 12 but were lucky enough to be upgraded to a cat 9. I walked in all excited looking out the porthole, DH kept asking me to look around, which I was. Unfortunately, I had completely walked passed (several times), the dozen red roses he had had delivered
They were FAB - thanks Neil - I was just excited x x x
It was time for the lifeboat drill and we donned our lifejackets and headed to our meeting point which was in Animators Pallet. I just couldnt stop laughing - no pics though - not the most flattering of accessories!!!!
After returning our lifejackets to the room, we headed upstairs for the sailaway party. Handed with our streamers, we grabbed a Mai Tai and enjoyed the party.
We were on the 2nd dinner sitting, so we changed and headed for the show, which tonight was the Golden Mickeys. BRILLIANT - like watching a broadway show.
Our first nights dinner was back in Parrots Cay and we met our servers and table mates. Sarah & Wayne were from the US and had got married the previous day and were on their honeymoon. Our server was from Bosnia and to be honest, we struggled to understand her. This was the most disappointing part of the cruise for me. Everyone around us seemed to be having a great time with their servers and guests - we were just bored!!!!!!!!
We had more of a good time with another server who had looked after us at lunchtime. You can not pick your servers or who you sit with so we didnt have much choice but it did disappoint.
After filling up, we were tired so we had a quick cocktail and retired to our stateroom!!
A day at sea tomorrow.
