I was recently given a prescription for Trilipix manufactured by Abbot Drugs. I went on to the web site and printed out a rebate for $15 for a 30 day supply. I purchased 90 days from my Medicare Part D supplier, and sent in the required documentation. Yesterday I received three (3) checks for $15 each. This will surely help my budget. The cost of the drug is $1.25 per day but it is working for trying to lower high triglycerides. I exercise regularly and eat healthy already, just can't seem to lower the triglycerides.
So research your drug suppliers, sometimes they can help with rebates.

That's great!

FYI, if you use Pristiq they offer a discount card too. A 30 day supply under my insurance is $60, but with the discount card it's $30. Saves a ton over a year. The number on my card is 877.896.8518.

Thanks for letting others know about this. Anything you can do to let others know that there are various ways of being able to afford medications is a huge help!

We recently attended a funeral for someone who had a serious chronic condition but had been without health insurance for a long time, had not been seeing a doctor, and therefore had stopped taking medications for his condition. Without treatment, the condition proved fatal much earlier than it may have if the condition had been medically managed.

My mother was on trilipix and with other drugs was almost to the cap so her doctor took her off trilipix and put her on fenofibrate which is a generic drug. The triglicerites lowered and she is still being monitored to see if they will go down even more.

Thanks for the tip. After I get close to a refill I will talk to my doctor.

Anyone who takes a brand name drug should definitely check out the manufacturer's website- there are a lot of copay cards & coupons available. However, they pretty much all specify that they can't be used for any prescription reimbursed by Medicare or Medicaid. (including Medicare part d) This is mandated by the federal government- not the drug companies. So you do have to be careful.

I take Lipitor for high choesterol. When I went to the Dr. 6 months ago, they gave me a card which gave me $15 off per month. I normally paid $50/month, so $15 off was really nice.

Well I guess Lipitor is getting ready to go generic, so when I went for my med check, my Dr. gave me a card to pay only $4/month. So I am now saving $46/month. That is really nice.

shoes99, thank you again for posting this! I sent this in seeking a reimbursement of the copays for my mail order prescription, not really expecting to get anything, and I just received checks totaling $30! There is another rebate ending 12/31/11 for the next refill. This is very helpful!
