Actually we've been driving from Houston to WDW for many years now, but the past trip was the first time we drove all the way home...without stopping for the evening. With 2 kids in the back too! We left WDW at about 9am... making it home by 11:30pm.

I think we'll continue to stop in Pensacola for the evening on the drive to florida... so we can arrive at a decent hour. But we're real pleased to finally take a chance on driving all the way home.

Any other Houstonians out there that make this long drive in one day?

We did the drive from Waco to Orlando both ways, no stops, in May. Piece of cake, I thought =) But I have no children to contend with =) We went through Houston...

Took us only 17 hours, even with short stops to grab food and potty. Not bad! Plus, we did it overnight each time, really really helps the drive.

That's one long drive,my hat is off to you don't think I could do it.:wave2:

We aren't too far South from you....we live in Corsicana, and haven't braved the drive yet! Of course my DH won't go back to WDW, so I sure wouldn't drive it on my own!

We are taking the kids, ages 5 and 3, to WDW for the first time in November. I'm thinking about leaving in the evening, stopping for dinner then letting the kids sleep while we drive thru the night. I would like to arrive at Panama City Beach in the morning and spend the day (and 1 night) just relaxing and playing at the beach. I think this would give us time to unwind, relax and be rested for the remainder of our drive. Then, we would get up early and drive the rest of the way to Orlando. Our first day we plan to go to DTD in the late afternoon/evening so we really don't have to rush to get there.

Our kids have never been on long car trips, in fact, I'm dreading the whole process. However, I like the idea of having our own car, being able to pack whatever I want and taking our time getting there.

DH wants to fly and use Tiffany Town car to and from VWL.
I see his point- we'd be at WDW in 3 hrs and ready to start the fun. However, the thought of trying to pack everything in a few little suitcases is something I can't seem to think about right now.

Decisons, decisions---

Anyone have thoughts on this?

We live in NW Louisiana and have done it several times. It is about the same distance from our house as from Houston since we have driven from Houston twice. Takes us about 14 hours.

Most times we stop at Daphne AL on the way home and sometimes on the way there if we leave after work.

This is great. We are driving from Tulsa Oklahoma and leaving on the 28th. Mother thinks we need to break it up a bit but I was thinking of driving through. What rout did you take?

Driving from Tulsa...

We've driven from Lawton a couple of times. Its 21 hours without stopping. It has to be 24 hours minimum for you. Plus you'll want to stop a few times to get gas, maybe eat etc...

I couldn't do it. I'd be too exhausted to enjoy myself. Otherwise, you can do it in two long days. We usually leave after I get off work on Friday. Drive to LA and stay the night, and then drive to Tallahassee, rest and then drive to WDW. But on the way back we only stop around Gulfport, and then head on home the next day.
