Drops in quality have changed our Dining Plans

And it is well worth the premium! :thumbsup2

I agree somewhat Bicker, but there were changes which occured between May and August 2005, too - those were the specific ones I noticed.

Here were those changes.
Pork Chop Dropped. No big deal. I couldn't find anyone that had had it. Maybe why it was dropped.
Gnocci Dunno its disposition now. In Early Oct, it could be had by asking.
Appetizers
Fried Calamari Dropped
Lamb Kabobs Dropped.

That's it.
yet at the time you'd think the world was about to end.

I went anyway and loved it.

No dedicated veggie entree anymore. And french toast at breakfast is just that - no banana nut topping.

Yes, there are still some good menu items, but the menu has been reduced and the nature of the restaurant has changed.

Spoodles didn't have a veggie entree for most of its life. It was added relatively recently, because folks like my wife and I kept on requesting it as a special request (ordering 24 hours in advance, etc.) Once it got on the menu, it wasn't as good as it was when they prepared it special, and therefore wasn't worthy of being on the menu. Good riddance.

Perhaps the most ridiculous decline was at the Boardwalk Bakery. For years, we've picked up their breakfast burritos for a quick breakfast. They always came with a small side of salsa. When we were there last November, the change from salsa to small packages of ketchup happened while we were there! At the start of our vacation, one got salsa with one's burrito. A stop there later in the week and, lo and behold, no more salsa -- just packaged ketchup! We've noticed other changes at the bakery as well -- they used to have a different flavor of crumb cake every day. Then it went to just plain crumb cake. Then it went to something that resembled a big muffin.

Oh, I agree... just to name a few, the disappearance of:

  • Homemade doughnuts
  • The chocolate and vanilla pretzels
  • The large size crumb cake
really makes me sad. I'm sorry, but Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a crumb cake muffin just don't cut it for us. We don't even stop there anymore.

We used to stop and buy 3 crumb cakes and chocolate pretzels at the end of every trip. Our family members used to look forward to us coming over and sharing the food and memories of our trip. Sadly, that tradition has gone away. :sad2:

We let our AP's expire for a year as we had USF?IOA passes. We bought new AP's last Christmas and considered renewing our DDE but decided against it. I've noticed changes in the menus at TS restaurants. They seem abbreviated now without enough variety to please everyone in our family.

We stayed at CSR and detested the flavorless food that came from the food court. We jumped for joy at the Padd Thai in the MK but now it's off the menu. We still like a lot of things in the Epcot restaurants, though. The only TS restaurant we visited at Christmas was Kobe.

The new TS menus remind me of an all-inclusive resort I stayed at once - very few choices.

I agree - I dont think the quality has gone down from the 70s and 80s. Its really hit and miss now but overall, I love the food. (maybe I'm just a big eater, LOL!)
