We are going to be renting a house (probably at Terra Verde in Kissimmee) next Feb. and will need to be able to drive four young adults to Disney, drop them off and pick them up in the evening. Is there a way to do this without paying parking each day for $14?? Where does one get a taxi? Taxis must be able to access the parking lots without paying but can the general public do this?

Also, would anyone know the approximate cost of a taxi from, say, Epcot to Terra Verde on N. Poinciana Road in Kissimmee? Terra Verde is very near Medieval Times.

Thanks for help from anyone! If you could reply to lizcakes@aol.com I would be most grateful!! :goodvibes

Dunno about the taxis, but it's dead easy to bring drop people off. Just ask tell them at the gate that's what you're doing and you won't have to pay. Or if you're taking them to the Magic Kingdom, you can run them up to the Contemporary rather than to the Transportation Center.

I would drop them off at the Disney hotel closest to where you are staying. For example, if you drop off at Saratoga Springs or Animal Kingdom Lodge, they can take the bus to any theme park.

Well, that's what I first thought but it's HARD to just drive into a resort! Don't they stop you at the gate and ask if you're staying there? We've stayed at BWV and BCV and OKW and they ALWAYS stop our car. We can just drive in and DROP THEM OFF? Yes? That would be great, but at each park would be even more golden - how do they know that you're not going to go in and park for the day???

No, it's not hard at all. Anyone can visit a resort, not just people staying there. We go to resorts all the time to eat or just walk around. We have never had a problem being waved through . Obviously, parking there all day would be a problem, and I've heard they give some guests passes with time limits (i've never gotten one) but you are just dropping some people off anyway.

They send you by a different route - maybe if you don't go the direction they tell you, they'll chase you down and make you pay? :p They'll basically have you follow the same route taxis do.

Don't they stop you at the gate and ask if you're staying there?

When hubby dropped us off at the Contemporary last year, he just told the attendant he was dropping us off and the guy waved him through, then when he was picking us up he told them that and they told him where to park (I wasn't out yet). We didn't think it much hassle. :confused3

This is great info to have!

My DH will be at a conference for 3 days during our trip, and will need to drop off me and the three kids somewhere for us to get to the parks.

One day will be MK - not sure about the other two.

Is there a good way to get to AK, EPCOT, and DHS? Or is it easiest to get dropped off at the park itself. We may have to go somewhere before the parks open - not sure what time the convention is.

Where are you staying? I would just pick the Disney resort easiest to drive to from your hotel. Once dropped off, you can ride the Disney bus/boat/monorail to the theme park and back.

I think this is the most hassle-free approach for you.

Hey Lizcakes,
We've always had a very good time visiting the resorts to get our pressed pennies or to have fun eating there. My MIL has dropped us off several times at the parks and picked us up. We simply explained that that's what we were doing. I imagine they have a pretty good idea of where people go and are very helpful:)

Have a great time:)

Hello everyone!

I know that last year my DH and I went to visit my parents for a long weekend and they dropped us off each morning at the parks. They did just as the first reply said - at the gate guard at each park, you can just tell them that you are just dropping someone off and they will wave you in and tell you which route to follow (you won't be driving along with the regular flow, which I guess could sound a little confusing, but it's not really).

At the end of the day, my parents were always there waiting for us at the Taxi Stand (at least in the case of Transportation & Ticket Center). I would assume they just told the gate guard the same thing - that they were there to pick someone up. I think that this system has been the same, because 10 years ago when I was in high school my family took my best friend with us to Florida and we did the same drop off/pick up (at the same Taxi Stand even!!) then.

For Epcot or DHS, you can get dropped off at any Epcot resort and just walk (to Epcot) or take the boat (to DHS, or walk there too).

Also, you can grab a pastry and coffee at the Boardwalk bakery on the way! It's so pretty in the mornings.

For AK, I think the easiest way is to drop off at the park I think (never did that one). Or take a bus if you're at a resort or different theme park.

This is just the BEST board - thank you SO much!!
