Can it be saved? I'm trying to dry it out now. I've taken the battery out & have it drying seperately. Any other ideas? :confused3

My DD left her phone out in a huge storm once and brought it in to dry, the next day it worked fine ! hopefully yours will too !

All she did was take the battery out :thumbsup2

You should be fine in a day or 2. I dropped mine in my beer once and it was fine 2 days later. My best friend also dropped hers in the toilet and hers was fine in a couple days too.

You will probably be able to use it tomorrow but the screen might not come back right away.

Good luck! And stop talking to people on the toilet!! :rotfl2:

My son dropped his in a large puddle...it dried out and worked fine in a few days. It is true the screen takes longer to fry out.

DBF dropped his Razr in his Mountain Dew :lmao: several months ago. It killed it but fortunately for him he has a friend that works for the company that manufactures them. Still, it was over $100 to replace it. :confused3

Rinse it in distilled water! Before it dries out!

Distilled water doesn't have an minerals that could short out circuits.

Even though it's been hours?????

Can't hurt. It's probably still moist inside.

The battery is sealed pretty good so there proably isn't any water in it. Just wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth dipped in distilled water and then let them both dry 24 hours.

I'll give it a shot. I also read that soaking it in alcohol will speed up the drying process. Should I try that too?

No because the alcohol you have is probably 70 or 80 percent. It still has some impurities in it. Just use the distilled water.

If the phone doesn't work, check with your home owners insurance. They may cover it.

Thank you so much for the advice. I've been going through "cell phone panic!"

I gave up, ran out & bought a new pink Razr. A mom just can't be phone-less!

Um yeah, I dropped mine into a cup of water at work and it crapped out after that. :( Do you have phone insurance? After all of my mishaps with my phone in the past 2 years, I'm DEFINATELY getting it when I renew my contract!

Just one of the reasons I keep mine turned off and in my desk. I only carry it when I think I might need it and that's about once a month, maybe.

I thought about getting the insurance on mine, but T-Moble wanted $5.95 a month. That is just too much.

Cell phone manufacturers now put an indicator inside the phone that lets them know if the phone has been dunked. I guess too many people were dropping their phones into toilets. :teeth:

One of the engineers I work with dunked his phone for just an instant and it stopped working. He took it apart (as any good engineer would do) and noticed a sticky substance on the circuit board. He used some ethanol (nearly 100% aka 200 proof) to clean off the board and the phone has been working ever since.

I have been told that the average cellphone is manufactured to last about 18 months. I guess that's to get people to purchase those insurance plans. Thankfully we've had pretty good luck with our phones. So far.

That's actually true. Under the battery there is a little white sticker. If the phone has gotten wet, this sticker will turn pink. Cell phone stores now look for this sticker when customers come in with "unexplained" phone problems. Try checking yours. If your phone stops working and that sticker is still mostly white, try bringing it to the store. They might be able to help.

I have a friend who dropped their cell phone in the toilet. They let it dry out naturally and it works. Just don't put yours in the washing machine. My brother did that and no amount of drying was going to save it. :rotfl:

My brilliant son washed my razr with his jeans and it didn't work after that. Of course some of that could be it went through the dryer as well.

oh i am the guru of phones being dropped in the toilet!

i've dropped 2 phones in the toilet before. although, not my new Razr one. after dropping those other 2, i make sure to take my phone out of my pocket before i enter the bathroom lol.

as long as the phone wasn't in the toilet for long, you should be fine.

the first time i dropped my phone it got stuck in the toilet and was in there for a good 5 minutes....needless to say it couldn't be saved.

the second time i dropped another phone in the toilet i grabbed it ASAP and let it dry out for the night. i also used a blow dryer for a few minutes after it first happened to make sure that the water wouldn't just seep in further. but the phone ended up being perfectly fine the next day and it worked fine up until i traded it for a new one.
