Drop off, pick up

Is there an easy and convenient way to drop people off and pick them up without parking at Universal?

Yes, there is a Guest drop off zone/pick up zone. Just follow the signs....it will drop them at the base of the escalators right beside the parking garage. It is on Hollywood Blvd and is where the buses from offsite drop people off. You can see the sign if you go into google maps, google Universal Orlando, go onto Hollywood Blvd with the walking person.
