We're a family of four (5 and 7 year old boys plus us) and are renting a car (Hertz) to get from MCO area to the port. Should I drop the family off at the port prior to returning the car? Where does the Hertz shuttle drop off at the port?

Thanks!
Rick

Last year, I dropped the rest of the family off while I returned the rental car and took the shuttle back to the port. Not only was it less trouble, DH was able to check us in and get our spot in the boarding line. We rented with Avis, and the shuttle dropped us off right at the front door of the terminal. I'm sure Hertz is the same.

What we do (DH didn't want to drop the car off by himself and have to try to find us later) we first drop off the luggage at the port then go as a family to drop of the car, we take the shuttle back to the terminal with nothing but carry ons and go right up to check in.

This is a good idea. Do you know what is the earliest time you can drop off luggage? Our rental car place is in Cocoa Beach, I believe, and then we'll have to take a cab from there (I used points to buy rental...had no choice of rental company).

When we cruised in May, we rented with Hertz. We dropped off most of the family (there was 11 of us), and three of us went to turn in the cars. We rode the shuttle back and they dropped us off at the front door of the terminal. There is virtually no way to get seperated from family in the terminal. There is one waiting area (although pretty big) and one set of Mickey Mouse ears to go through to get on board. The rest of the family had already checked in and was sitting and watching a movie. We checked in in a matter of minutes and was ready to go stand in line to board. The earliest that you can drop off luggage is 10 when the port opens.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. What great ideas. I'm going drop the family off at the pier and then return the car.

Thanks again!
