Its is.....AWESOME!!! I like it "alot"

I've already downloaded the light saber app and whack a mole, so far the only thing it doesn't have is eticket!

I've had my hands on plenty of iPhones, I'm not trying to incite a riot, but this is every bit as good as the iPhone. The apps are plentiful, the interface similar and the camera is superb (for a phone).

I'll be happy to field any questions and comments....form an orderly line and raise your hand!

I agree. I got my incredible a couple of weeks ago. It is simply awesome. I now divide my life into two halfs. The time before my droid and the time after my droid. Right now I'm in love with the google sky map.

Great to hear! The battery has been the only real gripe I've heard so far. Would be interested in hearing other opinions.

Great news!! I was just thinking last night I needed to find out how Don liked his new phone. Now that Don has given it the a-okay I will have to order mine. :dance3:

How how does it compare to that?

Can you have multiple e-mail addresses sent to one inbox?

Can you respond from each e-mail account from a unified composing program?

How is the touch screen versus a real keyboard?

Downsides?

TIA for any comments.

Corey Doctorow was on TWiT this weekend and spoke highly of K9 Mail for the Android platform.

I'm using K9 for my home mail (my own server, using IMAP/authenticated SMTP). I liked the look of the stock email program, but it couldn't be used against my SMTP server because it falsifies a string in a way to get trapped by the anti-spam filters. K9, which is a fork of the stock program, does it right.

I use Touchdown for use against the work Exchange server.

I got a Droid a couple of weeks ago and I love it. The girl at the Verizon store said to turn off the wi-fi unless you needed it to save on the battery. There is a way to see what is using up battery life. Like it will tell you 15% for apps, 20% for calls and so on. I don't remember how I found that on the phone. I'd like to hear what apps others have on theirs( I usually only get the free ones)

It's under Settings/About Phone.

There is a Power Control widget that allows you to control wifi, bluetooth, autosync and GPS much more easily. I only turn wi-fi on at home so things work faster, and generally keep bluetooth and GPS off unless I need it.

Turning down the brightness and not using auto-brightness is supposed to help, but I've found it unusable outdoors then.

I am a former blackberry user, while I did really like my blackberry, the screen size and applications make it well worth the upgrade.

yes, multiple emails work fine.

I'm getting used to the touch screen, but so far so good. I'm not as fast as I am on the blackberry keyboard, but to get 3 times the screen size, I'll give up some keyboard quickness.

Battery life is already a noticable downside. While if I could kill my blackberry battery in 1 day if I had wifi on and did a lot of GPS apps and surfing, I was able to kill my droid battery today in about 10 hours of constant use.

Since its been just over 24 hours, I'm sure I'll more input as I use it more and more.

so far the light saber app is my favorite ;) Whack a mole is pretty cool too!

Anyone have favorite apps I need to download? iPhone users? any favorite apps that are most likely droid apps also? I've already notice a lot of apps that people I know have on their iPhones are also in the Droid marketplace.

Check out paper toss and the aquarium live wall paper.
DolphinHD is also a pretty cool browser alternative.
Advanced task killer has helped me with shutting down Programs to improve battery life.
Google listen will let you subscribe to podcasts.

Here are a couple of cool shortcuts that i have read and found.
If you hold the back arrow button down while you are using the web browser, it will show you a list of your recent pages viewed.
If you hold the home button down, you can quickly access the 6 Programs you have most recently used.

I love my droid incredible, i can't wait until version 2.2 is released.

Looking forward to other responses.

There have been a few reported cases of the phone not going into sleep mode when not using the phone. You can determine if the phone is sleeping by checking Up Time and Awake Time. You can find these times by clicking on SETTINGS - ABOUT PHONE - BATTERY.

UP Time is the amount of time the phone has been powered up since the last power up. Awake Time is the amount of time the phone is in use. If the two times are identical, then you phone is not going to sleep.

There is a chance that an app is stopping the phone from going to sleep. To determine which app could be the culprit is trial and error. Shut down one app at a time. When the phone is able to go into sleep mode, the last app you shut down could be the problem.

My battery will last all day with a little to spare. It's now 11 pm and my battery is at 27%. Battery life is very similar to the iPhone I had before I got the Incredible. Unlike the iPhone, the Incredible's battery is user replaceable. There are higher capacity batteries available if the standard battery doesn't last all day.

I'm a former owner of several smart phones. I've had a Windows Mobile phone, a Blackberry, an iPhone and now the Incredible. Without doubt, the Incredible is by far the best phone I've had to date.

Thanks for all the info, I will most defiantly be looking for a higher capacity battery. These last two days I haven't given it a chance to go to sleep ;) I'm constantly using it!!

I was able to make it through the day with battery to spare yesterday, so if it isn't glued to my eye balls I think it will be fine for a day, which is all I ask!

We currently don't have data on our phones. Is there anyway to see what apps are available and are there any free ones like you can get with the iphone? I currently have tons of great apps on my touch and if I got an iphone I would be all set with apps.

There are several places on the web that will show you some apps that are available. A couple that come to mind is http://www.android.com/market and http://www.androlib.com but unfortunately they don't give you access to everything.

I would suggest Googling for the app you are looking for, ie: android disney will show lots of disney apps.

Watching threads like this very closely. I have 4 months left on my current Verizon contract, and I'm ready to throw my Blackberry out the window. Considering Droid Incredible on Verizon or switching to iPhone. Taking in as much info as I can....
