Looking into a new cell phone and was wondering if anyone had the DROID ERIS by Verizon and if they do, do you like it? Pros and CONS????

Yes, and I love it! The screen is VERY touchy, though, esp. with texting, but you get used to it quickly. I like that it has the auto complete on words when texting. The camera is good outside and bright light inside--no flash. I use it all the time with the Pandora radio and earphones. Oh, yeah, and the actual phone part works well, too! LOL

I just got one this afternoon so I'm still trying to figure it out. The screen is VERY touchy and I'd have to make sure to lock the phone when I'm not using it.

I've had mine since the day they came out and I really like it. I switched from the iphone so there was a little bit of a learning curve (transition) but not enough of one that would deter me form using it. I do like that many of the apps that I have used are free, the phone volume is decent, I can lock the screen easily, and as others have said the auto text portion is nice.

The downside is the touch screen for texting, pudgy fingers do not mean that the words that you intend to spell are what's displayed. Birnging up the recent call list to click on numbers has been frustrating for me, as I seem to manage selecting the number above or below the one intended. I have had difficulty sending pictures from my hone that are not attached to email addresses. Other than that I like it. DH has the Driod and regularly says that he likes mine more than his. That in his opinion the Eris is superior to the Driod.

My dd and I both have one and we LOVE it...the screen is a tad touchy but that is expected with any touch screen..I do some much with this phone :worship:

Does everybody find that after the initial time frame of the newness of the phone wears off do you still think you would buy another smartphone again or go back to the basics of just phone and text? I am a stay at home mom and we do go away alot of weekends in the summer and take a yearly vacation but other than that I am grocery shopping, cleaning, helping with homework and wonder if I will truly benefit from a smartphone...Help:confused3

One of the best features of my smartphone is that I can sync my computer calender with my phone calender. I can also get home emails on my phone. Since I am now working after years of being a SAHM, having access to that information is essential with 3 busy teenagers :lmao:. Is it worth the monthly access fee, probably not but since I have to have it for work anyway, it's a side benefit.

I REALLY like having internet access on my phone for things like waiting for the kids during dr, dentist, ortho appointments, waiting to pick them up after activities, etc.

In terms of actual NEED - a smartphone is a nice luxury but not an essential for a SAHM, in my opinion. Do I really NEED to be able to look up last year's Best Supporting Actress while I'm getting my hair done? Well, no, not really - but it's nice to be able to have that capability at my fingertips. Do I NEED to be able to read my email in carpool line or check the DIS during a slow line at Wendy's? Not really, but again - it's nice.

Being able to do some of my computer stuff on the run, so to speak, means that when I get home I've already cleared my email and responded to it so it hasn't backed up. Having a smartphone means I can download a Kindle App (I have an iPhone) and read my book if I find I have a few minutes and I haven't brought my Kindle with me. I can download podcasts on iTunes and catch up with my favorite comedy morning show.

None essential but all really, really nice to have. I wouldn't go back to phone and text only.
