Who here drives? I'm getting my permit tomorrow!!!!!!! I did some of my 6 hrs of driving school this weekend, and I finish it up tomorrow! I'm soo excited!!

I was so nervous before my 1st lesson! I was pacing, my stomach was in knots, and I thought I was gonna be sick! But once I starting driving, I was fine. Then on my 2nd lesson, I had to go on a highway. I was doing 70mph!! :rotfl2: My driving instructor said that usually first time drivers on the highway do like 50mph. Haha!

Anybody else have any driving school stories?

Driving stories? Hmm...as I have always been a *perfect* driver I don't think I have any "stories"....

Hmm...If I remember correctly, I believe after I recieved my permit I ran a red light and nearly drove off a highway. (now, keep in mind it was only the second day I had EVER driven and I was taken out on the highway, 9:00 pm, during a VERY bad rain storm where it was difficult to see anything at all! lol). Then I have the occasional speeding, swaying all over the road and driving into extremely large potholes! lol. Ironically, I have NEVER been in a car crash (*knock on wood* and don't intend to be!) All of this was of course a long while ago and I would consider myself a fairly good driver now, after about two years of driving.

GOOD LUCK!!! I KNOW you will do fine on the permit test! I was a nervous wreck when I went in for it and did fine. Oh and don't think about it being timed...I finished about 15 minutes early as did most of everyone I know. Try not to skip questions and answer to the best of your ability!!!

Most of my questions were about fees. So study those!!! (I am not a numbers person and was hoping to dear life I wasn't getting a test mainly on fees...huh oh well!) Anyway, I do remember one non-fee question and will tell you what it was so you have an idea of just how easy-like it is...

Q: When a pedestrian crosses the road off a crosswalk, what should you do?

There was even a picture to go with it and the answers couldn't be more obvious!!! Like I was really going to click the answer..."Don't stop". :lmao: ...

What really nerved me was the road test!! LOL. I almost got sick that morning! (not to mention the state trooper was a little on the cranky side...LOL)

Anyway, you'll do fine and good luck! :wave2:

EDIT TO ADD: For you it sounds different. We had to wait three months AFTER recieving our permit to start our 6 hours of on-roads with our driving teachers...Hmmm...

I drive but I haven't done anything *too* bad. When I first started my dad said that he was amazed at how close I could come to parked cars without hitting them = P

I have my permit.

And you only need six hours of class time? I need like, 30.

I used to loathe driving at first, but then I got used to it. Now it's actually fun to be independent!

Umm...for "horror stories" I don't have many but once I was driving on the highway in the right lane ( :teeth: ) and to my right there was a merging lane for the people getting on the highway. I saw a car next to me, so I slowed down to let it pass, but the car slowed down to. I looked to my left and there were cars there, and I couldn't speed up, so I just stayed the same speed. The car was driving at the same speed as me, and we were approaching the end of the merging lane. I didn't know what to do because I couldn't move away into another lane, but finally the woman, at the LAST possible second, forced her way in behind me. Whew! Then she proceeded to get into the lefthand lane and drive the same speed as me. She rolled down her window and started yelling and shouting at me. I kept thinking, "I'm not going to look at her. Just look straight ahead. Don't look at her". Eventually she got tired and speed off, but it was just a horrible experience.

For advice, I'd have to say: always be attentive! Pay attention to what's ahead and anticipate!

Hope this helps! Good luck! :goodvibes

i drive. even though im terrified about driving in the rain.

im pretty good with the "stopping at the last minute before i hit the car in front of me" thing.

I'm over 17 and a half and I don't have my license. :sad2: I just HAVEN'T HAD TIME to take the 12 hours of road lessons. Already did the 30 hours of instruction last summer!!! Sigh..........after we come back from Disney.......
It's sooooooo embarrassing when you take a date younger than you to your prom and you realize that in a month he could legally drive you, but you couldn't drive him. :guilty:
