We are considering driving 16 hours with our 2 1/2 year old who has never been on a long road trip before, would you do that or just pay for 3 airline tickets? We usually fly however, airfare has gone way up and we now have to buy a ticket for her. However, she has only been in the car for 4-5 hours at a time so we are not sure it is feasible. We would take two days driving each way.

We drove last year for the first time (24 hour drive) when my kids had just turned 5 and just turned 2. We were nervous, but the trip went fine. We did it again for thier 3rd and 6th burthdays. We drove straight through. We left home in the afternoon and drove through the night. They kids were sleeping half of the trip. Just make sure that you have plenty of movies, drinks, and snacks. When DD was 2, she did not watch TV or movies at home, but she really enjoyed them in the car. If your child is potty trained, I would put her in a diaper or pull up or you will be stopping A LOT! We will probably be driving from now on and I can assure you that it isn't bad. Its actually kind of fun to take a road trip. Good Luck!

We've driven from NJ to Disney a few times. My kids were as young as 9months - then 2.5 years old, then again with 2 kids -18months old and 5 and then 3 and 7.

It's a 20 hour trip. We drive through the night so the kids sleep. Stopping in Daytona to spend the night (and for hubby to sleep) before we make the 'short' drive to WDW!!!

A DVD player, snacks and a few toys help. We also stop to eat and stretch our legs/potty breaks.
