Some observations:

Always take the bus to MK. The ferry trip was nice but it took twice as long to park, tram, ferry as it did to take the bus.

If you parked at TTC, at the end of the night, take the ferry instead of the monorail. It was easily the faster choice unless you are one of the first ones out of the park.

I hate the way they park the cars! I'm sure there's some logic to it but it is annoying to be there early and end up at the far end of a row only to find people who were 30 cars behind you get to park at the end of the row next to the trams. Not a big deal in the morning but heading out in the afternoon heat it was a pita to have to walk through the hot parking lot. We always seemed to end up close enough to not need the tram but far enough that it was a chore to walk it.

Thank goodness for the remote car alarm. It was the only way we found our car in the dark at the hotel parking lot. The one time we had absolutely no idea where we parked at Epcot, the tram conductor on the way out was able to tell us, based on our arrival time, exactly which section and ROW we were in. Right on the money.

Take a picture of your section and row marking w/ your phone. This was a great tip I read on the DIS and it was very handy once we remembered to use it.

We enjoyed the freedom of having the car. We were able to zip right over to BB for a few hours and to go to Sea World on our own schedule. We went to Walgreens to stock up on sunblock and shampoo etc and we ate a few meals on I drive.

If I was going to be there for 5 days or less, I wouldn't bother with the car.

We had no issues finding parking at the resorts (Pop and AKL) even late at night.

All in all, bus vs. car - I'd say it's about an even exchange. There are pros and cons for both and neither option is the clear winner in my book.
