Driving to WDW, how to avoid Atlanta ?

Update: We left Chattanooga around 5AM, used Google maps to avoid a 40 minute slowdown before we even got into metro Atlanta, then went through the city around 6:30 on I75. It was crazy congested but traffic moved along at pretty good pace (no accidents sure helps keep things moving). Northbound looked much worse. Google maps proved invaluable.
We might look into trying a more westerly route on the way home ( Wisconsin) - will see how much more time it'll add if we try I 10 into AL, then north.
Thanks for all the advice! I took notes for next year's trip.

My husband drives from Chicago every March while I fly. He leaves our house at 3 am so he can get to just north of Atlanta that day. Then he gets up about 3 am the next morning to get through Atlanta. Going back if he doesn’t get to Atlanta before 2 pm he just stops and waits until the next day. The last time I drove with him we spent 4 hours getting through Atlanta because of two accidents and construction. It was awful.

Oh, yeah, if you are coming from WI then that may work as an alternate. Looks like it adds about 90 min, or so, but you do miss Atlanta completely and here. Our stretch of 24 can be a bear at times. There are some really nasty accidents, at least once a week
