hi...my family of 5 adults is driving from Southern Maine in Oct to wdw. We usually fly but after a harrowing flight in 2002 none of us wants to do it again. We plan on leaving on a Friday around 7-8 pm and driving as far as we can until we get tired. Our ressies are on Sunday so we have plenty of time. How long should it take us? Where to stop overnight on Saturday or should we drive straight through? Best route? Best exits to stop? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

We are on the Seacoast NH and stop in DC the first night, then around Santee, SC the second. The absolute worst drive is the first night. I always drive by myself with the kids, so don't push past the 10 hour mark. I want to say Santee was about eight hours from Orlando??

It's usually about 25-26 hours of driving for me, eliminating stops and stuff.

We drive from RI and we go straight through. We have a van and each kid can recline and sleep. My DH loves to drive and does most of it, I'll take over when he's sleepy.

Here's a link to exit info on I-95 that we've found very helpful. There's info on places to stay and where to find food the entire length of the highway.

We are driving from Central Maine in May. This is what we've decided to do after much thought and consideration. ::yes::

My husband will be going to bed early with our youngest around 7:00p.m. while I finalize the packing of the van and such. I will try to catch some sleep as well before the departure time of 12 midnight. We are going to push it the first day so our arrival day is just a relatively short drive. The first night we will be staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Kingsland, GA which is highly recommended here. The following morning is just about a 3ish hour drive to Disney.:hyper: (On the way back we will stop in Emporia, VA which is about 10 hours from Disney)

I am banking on the children sleeping for part of the night in the van then taking short breaks throughout the day. I will be packing food in a cooler in the van to cut down on stop time other than stretch and potty breaks. I have to say my children really like road trips (gave them the choice of flying or driving and they said DRIVE) so I think this plan will work for us.

You have five adults so it should be easier and LOTS of FUN! Enjoy... :teeth:
