So we decided to save some money on our trip next year in August and we are driving from NJ to WDW! We are thinking of trying to make it to Savannah before stopping overnight, and then stopping in Richmond, VA on the way home.

I've never driven down, so any tips on where to stay overnight, good places to stop to eat lunch (although we might pack our own food), etc..., would be appreciated! Words of encouragement are also welcome as the longest we've gone in the car with the kids is 8 hours! :scared1:

TIA! :goodvibes

On the part I know something about:

In the Savannah area, we like to stay at exit 104, the airport exit. Several hotels and restaurants in the area. From there, it is just under 300 miles to WDW the next morning.

We always pick up the roomsaver books at the state welcome centers. You can also print off some of the coupons in advance at their site. We like to stop at the Cracker Barrels along the way to get a chance to stretch your legs and let the kids stroll around in the store. Meals are more expensive than fast food but it's pretty quick most times and closer to home cooked food. There are some great guides to the I95 out there that detail everything at each exit.

We just returned from our trip to WDW on Saturday. We drive straight through so I can't help with hotel recommendations. It took us 16 hours to get down. You can do it. Just bring things to keep your kids occupied (dvds, books, ect). You will be fine.

We drive every year, we have stayed in Santee SC about an hour out of Ga.The hotels were Clarks Inn and the Best Western. We are off for our 7 th drive next week we were going to stop in Savannah at a Beat Western but we have decided to drive straight thru and add some days to our stay.We have 2 children and while it is tedious at times it's worth it.

Thanks everybody! :thumbsup2

And thanks for the tip on the I-95 guide Bluenosemickey! As informative as the web is, I still love pouring over travel books. I'm going to go search for one of those right now!
