Hi there. We will be driving from mco to port canaveral...renting a car for one day. Just for couple hours, really! Should I pay for the toll fee pass at the car rental place, or should I just pay as I drive thru the toll?

And is there more than one toll fee for my route?

And lastly, how much is the toll fee/s?

There are a couple of tolls either is fine, I have had a rental with du lass included just sailed through each one, no delay, or pay its only some coins.

Do the toll place/gate/hut (?) take bills or credit cards? Or just coins? Thanx! :flower:

Thanx! Will make sure we have some loose change and bills. :flower:

Heartily second Fantasy's suggestion of bringing some small denominations. Helps with the baggage tipping when you get to port too. I never seem to have enough dollars. You won't really need change since they are manned booths, but will collect change on the way.

You can also pick up a SunPass mini transponder as well, if you travel a bit. It saves like 10 or 15%, and is like the EZPass in most of the eastern seaboard. Information is here https://turnpikeinfo.com/ezpass-sunpass.php?state=florida

Notes and coins are best as it's very small amounts. That's faster.

From the airport to the port I think there are 3 or 4 tolls, ranging from $0.50 to $1.25 (working off memory, there is probably a site you can find the exact amounts). We have gotten in long lines at tolls but usually from the airport towards the turnpike entrance, not from the airport east. So if it is worth the fee is up to you - depends on your traffic frustration level. Definitely have small bills (or quarters) ready if you are going to choose the cash lanes. (and just in case you weren't aware, to use the cash lanes, you do need to be in the right lanes of the highway - especially the one near the airport as the highway is still many lanes there. You have to "exit" to the cash lanes. Many more SunPass lanes than cash lanes.)

No, they don't take credit cards. I believe from MCO it is just a couple dollars, but can't say for sure. Getting epass with rental car is easiest as you don't have to stop to pay cash tolls.

The tolls from Orlando international airport to the port, will be $3.25. The tollbooths on the Beachline are manned. Having a pass will save you about $.50. So if the rental car company is charging you more than $.50 to use the pass, then I would go with cash.

Thank you everyone, for all your input and help! Really appreciate you all taking the time! :flower:

I make this trip on business at least twice a year, and it is not worth the cost for the rental car transponder, just pay the cash lanes, won't add but a few minutes, relax, your on vacation!!!

There are 2 Tolls of $1.00 each (Cash) between MCO & PC as long as you take the North Exit out of the Airport. Round trip would cost $4.00 cash. If you exit SR-528 between MCO and the Dallas Blvd main line toll plaza, there may be a toll on exit ramp.

Here's a Toll estimator. You want the blue dots, not the green ones, unless you plan on getting off of the highway. You'll get on the Beachline/Beeline at 1A, just east of the cloverleaf above the airport.
