Driving to HDDR

I just decided to rent a car, so will drive to HDDR instead of taking the buses. Where do I go?? Do I just follow the signs to Fort Wilderness and ask where to park once I get to the main entrance?

How much time should I allow if driving from POP?

Yes, that's exactly what you should do. Expect it to take 15 minutes to drive to Fort Wilderness. From there, you have to catch the internal bus, which will take an additional 10-15 minutes to get you to the HDD.

From your other thread, you will be coming from the CCC, right?


At POP, when you check in, tell them you will be renting a car and want the paper (saying you are staying at a WDW resort) for you dashboard.

From the CCC, (it is on a one way road heading away from MK) you will need to make a U turn to get back heading towards MK.

When you get ot the MK toll plaza, keep to your right. The CM will see the paper on your dashboard and wave you through. IMMEDIATELY right after the toll plaza, there will be a road off to your right. take that road. All the busses will be using it also.

Take the first right (there will be signs to FW). FW may be a 1/2 mile down the road on your left. The first entrance is check in. Do not enter there. The second entrace will have a sign saying "Parking for HDDR" or something like that. You can park anywhere in that section and take any internal bus (purple, orange, yellow) to the Settlement.

There is another way to go from the CCC but you must be careful to not go on the one way road exiting the MK area.

From the CCC there is another smaller road that heads North toward the GF and Polynesian area. Turn right when the Polynesian is in front of you....it is Seven Seas Blvd. I think. At the light, take a right and this road will go South for a bit and then turns toward a stopsign. At this point the tollbooths and all that traffic will be on your right. Another time to be careful as there will be resort and MK bus traffic that doesn't have a stop sign. Cross that intersection and you are on the road that goes by FW.

But be careful leaving CCC to not go on the mutilane one way MK traffic road. There is a curve there, traffic is speeding and you would be going the wrong way.

If you take Ed's route which is probably easier (I like the other better but....), I don't think you need to actually make a Uturn. There is a return lane to get back to the MK parking booths and I think it is just South of the CCC. But you will need to get in the far left hand lane ASAP.

The other thing to do is just go South until you get to the exit for MGM/Epcot resorts. At that point you could cross that bridge and then get back on the road to the MK. This would be the easiest and safest route if our directions are confusing to you.....but the longest.
